That's part of the fun of these adventures....but I've only had to sleep in a car a couple times. The Vette shouldn't be any worse than the Corvair was

It makes me smile, to know that there is former typewriter repair technician, out there on the road, having fun in an older corvette !
Roll on safely brother @squirrel !

You were ask about the route to Jerome. It would be a great drive to run 89 from Prescott to Jerome. Lots of curves, downshifting, it's a ball and would be cool in your Vette. I've done it in rentals and my cpe. Whichever route it'll be a fun time

I found this the other day ...Don Roberts meet at the Gold King mine in Jerome.
Hauled a 1919, 25 HP Fairbanks-Morse flywheel diesel engine on the bed of my 1956 IH DCO205 rig up truck with a 1953 R-120 Travelall in tow....no Jake brake signs on the downhill....yeah right...it is a cool town IMG_20240317_154632795.jpg

Just don't get behind someone whose afraid of all the curves and the downhill stretches. I've been behind cars and trucks more than once especially coming down out of Jerome whose drivers were constantly on the brakes rather than downshifting. I've seen smoke and smelt hot brakes there many times. Luckily they were all able to somehow stop at the bottom, but I wasn't sure a couple of big trucks would be able too

  10. That was some cool theme song music,,,,I didn’t realize it was from the show .

I heard it a couple of years ago on a documentary about Pan Am,,,,it was really good jazz .
As soon as the piano comes in,,,,I knew that tune ,,,,really good music !

I know Squirrel is going to have a great trip,,,it will be an adventure !
Like the old line from Mission Impossible,,,,”good luck Jim “ .

Take in as much as you possibly can and make sure you have a drink at the oldest bar in the state in Jerome.:D

    Jim,
If the weather is the same next week, make sure to give the windshield another coat of RainX. It's blustery up here.

Is the start on the other side of the shack? I guess even backwards route 66 is still 66. Enjoy the trip sounds fun.

Drove it from Chicago back in 79 with a friend in my OT Challenger. We made it maybe 15 to 20 miles into Cali and got stopped twice. First stop was bumper height, the car passed and we were sent on our way after a 20 min stop. Then they pulled us back over for loud exhaust. Lets just say we left Cali in a hurry and didn't stay for the rest of the stop. Glad that happened then and not today. They probably let us go and said good riddance but we weren't waiting to find out why they didn't chase us. We caught two lanes until we were well out of the state. Wound up running a tank of cheap gas through the car just to get back to civilization. Maybe I'll get to finish the route one of these days.

old guys driving old cars don't get a second glance from police these days.

Anyways...also got to see some neat old cars, a friend took me to see the collection.
