I have had the honor to hang out with Tom during the vintage kart races in Riverside. He is the definition of a good man. I am sorry for his loss. And I hope he is okay.

Lynn Pew has posted a couple of pics of Tom's coupe undergoing reconstruction on his blog. www.pewsplace.com. This one today. Sure good to see it being rebuilt.

The car is at Hot Rods and Custom Stuff in Escondido for the rebuild. Apparently, Street Rodder will be covering the project in future issues, and some type of fund raiser is being organized to help with the costs.

That's awesome. The car deserves to be in a museum beside Old Dad's 32 roadster.

6. I have loved Tom's stroker cartoons since the little books. Really saddened to hear he had lost his garage and car. At 91 he is certainly an inspiration to us all and hearing his coupe is being rebuilt is good news. Really good to hear he wasn't injured. Pat.

Any updates on Medleys coupe? The hotrodscustom.com site has good info, just nothing new in a while.

I'll be adding some more "stuff" in a day or two to the Hot Rods & Custom Stuff website. Go to: www.hotrodscustomstuff.com In the upper right you'll see a red "Stroker's coupe" rectangle. Click on it and it'll take you to the Stroker coupe rebuild page. Once there keep scrolling down and don't pass up the DONATE button. There's been more progress and it'll be covered there. But remember that this work doesn't happen on its own. A couple of bucks kicked in will help. On that note, we'll have Stroker goodies available in exchange for donations. It's some pretty neat stuff that you'll want to have. We don't have the online mechanism set up yet, but will shortly. We'll keep you posted.

The car is looking great and Tom has a smile on his face. And I finally put in a donation on this. I'll be watching for the updates on it.

We've updated the Hot Rods & Custom Stuff website so you can make a donation and get back some Stroker memorabilia in return. There is a T-shirt, and several posters available. Here's the link to our Stroker's '40 coupe Rebuild webpage. You'll find the button for the memorabilia shopping cart there.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

17. I've followed Mr. Tom since I discovered Stroker and R&C many decades ago. One of my Hotrod heroes. Donation sent to help out.

I made a 20.00 donation and didn't expect anything in return but received one of the T shirts in the mail yesterday. I think my wife has laid claim to it though as she has wanted a red 40 since 1973.

Those guys are working a Miracle on that car, if you haven't checked out the progress on the website in post 105 do so.

Tom turns 92 on Tuesday, 3-20. Nice birthday gift would be a donation thru Hot Rds and Custom Stuff on the rebirth of his 40 Coupe.

A lot has been going on in the shop. Plenty of progress being made. I'll post an update on www.hotrodscustomstuff.com later this weekend, and let the HAMB community know when I do.

.thanks for the update. How is the money situation? Should we send more? Is the Jag rear going to be retained?

First, donations are greatly appreciated and we hope that they continue. To answer the question, "Should we send more?" I'll be very surprised if the cash donations come close to covering the time and material necessary to pull off this project.
Randy and Peaches Clark, owners of Hot Rods & Custom Stuff are being most generous in having several of their employees working almost exclusively on this project. Keep in mind that Hot Rods & Custom Stuff is a business. As such it has expenses: payroll, taxes, lease, utilities, and on and on. When guys aren't working on revenue generating projects, the slack has to be taken up. Right now, Randy & Peaches are taking a bunch out of hide. Donations of parts from some very generous suppliers have been a great help. Contributions from Bob Drake, Vintage Air, Total Cost Involved, Meza Paint, and many more have helped tremendously but cash will help with the labor end of the effort.

Finally, yes, the Jag rearend is being retained. It’s at Curt Hamilton’s shop in Van Nuys right now and he’s torn it down for inspection. It ain’t real pretty. It’s going to take a complete overhaul to make it a reliable piece again. There's bad calipers and rotors, worn out bearings, shot shocks, and more. The rear was probably a marginal junkyard find when it went into the coupe in the 80's. We’re not going to do a cosmetic touchup, replacing a few seals, throwing some rattle can paint on it and calling it good enough. It'll be done completely and correctly.
When this car goes back to Tom it’s going to be 100% right, and he’ll be able to trust it to get him on the road to anywhere in this country, if that’s his wish. That's going to take money, my friendsThanks for your interest, and keep checking the Hot Rods & Custom Stuff website for updates.

In order to generate donations to the Tom Medley Coupe Rebuild Fund, the folks at Vintage Air have come up with a special deal.
It goes like this:
Want to donate to Stroker's '40 rebuild, but you're also in need of a Vintage Air system for your hot rod, muscle car, truck or special project?
Vintage Air's got a plan. Here's a great way you can make your contribution to the rebuild project and get your Vintage Air system as well.
- Call Vintage Air at 800-862-6658, and dial extension 110 to speak with George Packard (Vintage Air's National Sales Manager).
- Select the system or universal components that best fits your application, and ask for a formal quote plus shipping along with a quote reference number.
- Once you get your quote, go to www.hotrodscustomstuff.com and click to the "Stroker's Coupe" page, scroll down to the "DONATE" button, and make a donation of at least 90% of your quoted amount to the Stroker's '40 Rebuild Trust.
- After you have made your donation, contact George Packard at the number and extension mentioned above with your donation confirmation number. Your quote will then be processed and your order will be on its way.
It's a great way to be cool in your ride and help the rebuild on Stroker's '40 keep rolling along.
Offer good on complete Sure Fit and Universal Component systems, Front Runners are not included in this promotion.
Hurry, this offer is limited to the first five hot rodders!
