Tonneau covers for old trucks

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Baron Von Mike, Oct 8, 2004.

  1. I'm looking for something like the one in the picture below. Is this just a local upholstery job, or do any of you know of places that make them for older trucks?

If you have one like the one pictured, where did you get it done?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  3. A local upholstery shop should be abld to handle it for you.

A word of caution though - and it more than likely seldom happens - ask the upholsterer how he/she lines up the snaps.

My little brother bought a new 74 Ford half ton - which he still has - had a tarp put on by a local shop.
The upholstery guy made the tarp first and used that as a guide for the snaps.
As you can imagine, the snaps ended up wavy and not in a straight line cuz the uph guy pulled the tarp to where he wanted it, marked and then drilled for the snaps.

I'm pretty sure you install the snaps first, all in a straight line and make the tarp to fit.
Not the other way round.... [IMG]

  4. Pretty standard stuff for an upholstery shop. Shop around though. Huuuuge difference in prices out there.
