O.K., here's the dilemma. I thought I had come up with my ideal set-up for my truck (1st thumbnail): - Body color: PPG Valley Mist (307.1) or about that color. Ultimately its going to be a light metallic pea-green. With white scallops. - 57 Caddy hubcaps with huge bullets. - Maybe a visor, not yet decided. My problem is: When I try to think of the finished product, it might look too mild mannered. If I dont go with the green (2nd thumbnail), Ill put down PPG Flat Black with full length flames (like in the 3rd thumbnail (beautiful truck BTW)). The 4th thumbnail is the closest thing I could find of overall look Im going for, but with different paint and no chop. Come on HAMBers, let me know what you think, green/scallops or black/flames. Also, is the visor too much? Thanks.
Often, the subtle and subdued cars and trucks are the ones that really stand out in a sea of scallops and flames in lime green, electric blue, and screaming orgasm red! So go with what YOU think works and it will make YOU happy. To Hades with the rest of us.
Being partially color blind really hinders my outlook on things. I'm going for a nice looking kustom, but am afraid that once I get it in paint it will look too mild. Always loved the look of flat black with lots 'o flames but I know it's been done a time or two. Thanks for the encouragement, BlueGhost and pasadenahotrod!
Gotta ask yourself... What would Cole do? And if you don't know the answer, you have some homework to do.
I love the '54 he did for Mike Ness, but I have to say that seeing it in flat black on the back of "Cheating At Solitaire" gave me one hell of a wood when I first got the solo album in 1999. Salinas Boys do turn out some amazing shit and I'm never let down seeing anything they build.
I vote for pea green with scallops, but if your worried about being too plain, then make the green a little brighter, and the scallops a little wilder, like big ones that turn and head back the other way.
