This might be O/T for some but this was a day I'll cherish for a life time. My Dad is 81 this month and although his health is holding out fairly well, I not sure about him being around when I finally finish the car. I had promised him a ride in the coupe one day. Today the sun was shining and warm so I gave him a call and ask if he and mom would like to come up and visit. I surprised them both with a ride around the block or two. I think Dad had more fun in those few minutes than he'd had in years, I could see in his eyes a younger man, I think he had a chance to relive his youth for just a little while there. I can't begin to explain how it made me feel seeing him smile like that. I ask Mom if she would like to take a spin as well, Couldn't believe how fast that ol' girl jumped in and off we went. Yes, It was a good day at the Palmer house, Damn good day. Here's a few pictures my wife snapped for me and a picture or two of the wife's first ride as well. I wish my dad was still around so I could do something like that to. Hold on to him for as long as you can and cherish all the time you have with him. God bless you for doing that.

Family is so important, nothing last forever, but the memories do! Your parents will never forget that ride. They will be telling all their friends and I'm sure they are proud of you. Good move!

wow that's got to be a great feeling,if your dad was a hot rodder,like mine he knew all the work you put into the car & just how proud he is of you with that smile on his face, my pop passed away 3 years ago, one of my first shakedown runs was to his grave this fall just to remeber that smile !
SO very cool! Reminds me of when I took my grandmother for a ride in my old convertible. She was into her late 80's at the time. I still remember her covering her hair....... Thanks for reminding me of a great memory!!!!!!!
I know exactly how you fell. My dad is 74 and had a stroke a couple years ago. I thought for a while I would never get to take a spin with him. He was big into rods and racing in the early 60's and hadn't been in an old car since. He worked at a gas station in the mid 50's, with a '49 chevy shop truck. We had been going to shows for 5 or 6 years and it was becoming more and more apparent that he was never going to be able to afford anything. I didn't tell him I was looking for a hotrod, or that I had the money, so it was all pipe dreams, untill I pulled into his driveway in the '48 PU. I can still remember the evil smirk on his face. A look that said "shit, I thought I'd finally gotten this itch out of me after 40 years, but fuck it fells good to be alive again!" fucking priceless. Mabye Visa should make a commercial about it. Come to think of it, I remember a comm. a few years back where a son found his dads old truck. After restoring it he brought it to him. Dad says "that looks just like my old truck", son hands him the keys and says "it is....". makes me well-up thinking about it
