Tools what to buy? Brake line flaring kit

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flatheadfever, May 9, 2008.

  1. As already mentioned. Make sure you chamfer the end before you flare. It made a huge difference. Also, I found that putting the fixture in a vice made it alot easier too. It never hurts to practice on some short pices to get comfortable with it.

  2. I really like the old Blue Point (Snap On) flaring set I bought used. There are cheaper imported ones that look like an exact copy of the old Blue Point set, but they work like ****. It's really aggravating to ruin the flares after spending a lot of time bending the lines and getting them perfect. You can save yourself a lot of aggravation and trips for more tubing if you start off with a good quality flaring tool.

Imperial Eastman makes top quality bending and flaring tools too.

FEDHILL is the best around. Copper alloy brake lines that won't corrode and have a stronger burst strength than steel. The 3/16th brake line can be bent with your hand to go anywhere you want it. They have a flare tool that is amazing but it has to be used with their line. FEDHILLUSA.COM
