If the ring gear doesn't go on in the first try, get the flywheel colder and the ring hotter for the next try.
Larger supermarkets sell dry ice, you throw the bag on the ground to break the block up into chunks to fill up the inside of the flywheel, cover with blankets and cardboard boxes for a while. I heated my ring in an oven at 550 degrees. The dry ice is much colder than the freezer. Don't give the ring any time to cool off - straight off the heat and right on the flywheel.

 

If you put the dry ice in a container large enough to hold the flywheel, add isopropyl or methanol alcohol it will drop the temperature another 30 degrees

 

New ring gears are cheap and available. Pop that thing off and replace it with a new one.

 

Been a while since I fooled with the different flywheels. Any chance he has an 8BA flywheel?

Yes, but 8BA and 59A types are not interchangable at all.

 

IIRC the 8ba pressure plate bolt holes are drilled completely through while 59's weren't
