Yeah I know it's an old thread, but seeing as it's here, didn't Robert Urich drive a way cool black T bird in one of his old shows? And if he did, can someone put me out my misery, and tell me what it was called, or is it just the insane ramblings of a feeble mind? Oh yeah, pretty much anything in 'Crime Story'. Oh yeah, someone put up Sean Connery's Aston as a DB7, but it was a DB5. Anally retentive I know, but it's raining outside, I got nothing better to do, and he was the ONLY Bond, so there. . . . .It's important. . . . .to me, anyway. . . . . What's for dinner?
Robert played Dan Tanna? in Vega$ back in the late seventies. He drove a red thunderbird in that show.
Auger in- Jack Rabbit Special, Hotwheels cartoon series. The Laurel and Hardy pic, the best car destruction movie Two Tars from 1928 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNN2j61fc-U&feature=related
there was a 64 or 65 mustang in spencer for hire for a while until they replaced it with a (at the time) fox body mustang GT, he drove the T-bird in Vegas
If you're never seen or heard about the original "Black Beauty" from the 1940 Green Hornet, its got to be up there on your list.A custom 1937 Lincoln Zephyr.Check out the custom chrome skirts. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_174272-Lincoln-Zephyr-720-1937.html
Probably the first custom cars on TV were fictionally owned by Boston Blackie, a detective that had a collection of cars, and he drove a different one, on different episodes. 1951 television series starring Kent Taylor.
The one he parked in the house? Dan Tanna? I don't remember it being black tho. Edit - It was called Vega$ Oh. You guys beat me to it.
On my three sons the oldest son had a 39 chevy sedan, the top was cut off and the front fenders were cut open. I always liked this car can't find any pictures .
+1 on that. I watched that show every week to get another look at that car. It is the granddaddy to all modern T buckets too. A very close second on my list has to be the California Kid 34 coupe. That car caused a lot of guys to want a chopped 33/34 Ford coupe I was never too big on the Off the wall built for TV cars but have seen several of them show up at the Indoor shows here in the northwest. t
11 pages of crap and only two mentions of Ivo's T. The once and future perfect T. (Grabowski's is a close second.) At least Ivo raced his (118 I believe).
Over 200 posts and no one mentioned the Merc of James Dean in Rebel without a cause,or any of the cool chopped Mercs in Runnin Wild with Keenen Wynne
What about George Peppard as Banachek? He drove a Packard Darrin. When he pulled into the town house you would see a Cord 812 SC Coupe parked next to it.
For me it will always be the Batmobile. Main reason being that it was not only a cool TV car (I love the jet fighter dual cockpit) but that it was also a factory prototype/concept car that actually made the curcuit. It was also used in a movie too. After it was retired Barris basically painted it black and added the wheels and it was now the Batmobile. I wonder what happend to the original flip-up cockpit covers? I bet those would be worth a small fortune if you had them stahsed in your garage. Second, the Monkeymobile. 67 GTO's are cool, but to have one with a blower and made into a tub, how cool. Third would have been the Vice Daytona if it were REAL, but since it was not, The Manix Cuda vert since it was a 1972 vert that Mopar never made.
Dennis Farina had a super cool black Chrysler 300 convertible in "Crime Story". There was some show called something like "Private Eye" about some detective dude who drove a cool Eldorado Biarritz and his sidekick had a cool '49 Mercury. As a little kid in the '60s though watching a black and white TV, the Munsters Coach and Dragula were my favorites. Max Smart drove a Sunbeam Tiger in the early Get Smart shows, but I think I remember the ones from the early '70s where he drove an Opel GT? I must be strange, but I thought Dukes of Hazard was a piece of crap show and I thought it was a total waste of a bunch of Chargers. I was a teenager by then though, so maybe it would have seemed cool if I'd been a little kid then. The Dodge Chargers in "Bullitt" and "Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry" were super cool though!
Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry, wasn't that a Road runner. If your going to include movies then, Richard Greko's Mustang from "Born to Run", The '57 CHEVY from "The Tales From the Crypt:King of the Road. " episode with Bradd Pitt, where he has to race the "Iceman",The Trans am from Cannonball with David Carradine, and of course "The Car".
