Tough question that requires thoughtful reflection.
    1. 1933 Ford Roadster.
    2. 1940 Ford Coupe
    3. 1957 Ford Thunderbird
    4. 1957 Ford Ranchero
    5. 1948 Ford F1 Pickup

The graceful Art Deco lines of the '33 are classic, especially the curve of the grille bars and the hood louvers.
The '40 coupe is also classically graceful.
The '57 Thunderbird is the prettiest of the three two-seaters.
The '57 Ranchero is the first of the practical sedan trucks.
The '48 F1. I have to include my own truck project and it is the first of a long line of Ford pickups that continues today.

You'll notice that there isn't anything newer that '57. In my mind most everything newer than that year is ugly. If I was pressed to add a sixth or one newer than '57:
    1970 Ford Mustang Fastback
It was the second year of the smoothed out redesign of the original and they got rid of that ugly rear quarter scoop that broke up a very graceful line.

    Graceful style is everything.

As many have stated, this is tough to limit to only 5, and given a different day, the list no doubt will change. Here are mine in no particular order:

    1. 60 Ford Starliner
    2. 68 Dodge Charger
    3. 39 Ford Deluxe sedan
    4. 32 Ford ( all of them will do, but a special nod to the vickys and B400's)
    5. 55 Chevy Cameo

    40 Lincoln Zephyr business coupe

Never owned any of these, come close on a couple.

The Tucker is easily the greatest American car design in all aspects of design by a long shot, at least in my mind. I can't believe no one else agrees with me.

An extended list would include all the 60-61 bubbletop designs including the Galaxy, Fury, Impala, Bonneville, etc.
