Thanks, @chriskopp , That's one of the details where a pro knows. I expect you know where room is tight and where things normally fall. Just curious what the process is when handing off to another.

  2. I do like the pit bike. he gave it a different touch than what I had seen. I restored a Taco model 44 back in 2010. Maybe modified is a better term. I installed a 5hp flathead that had all of the usual mods you do to a flattie. Might have made 6.5hp. when I was finished. :)

I noticed that too. Things can move around a little bit after welding. Of course things like Dzus plates and fasteners can always be repositioned. Looking forward to seeing this body take shape.

P.S, The pit bike is too Kool 4 school.

My specialty and what I’m known for is aluminum bodied ‘20’s thru 60’s open wheel race cars and 50’s-60’s sport cars. From original drawings, blueprints, other known cars, and thousands of photos, I use the same process for every project. Most of my customers are private collectors, some are hands on knowledgeable like Marty which makes the process easier.
I don’t know about being a Pro, but I’ve been fortunate to work on some great projects.

Chris has been hard at it on the body mockup, starting with tail. I hardly slept last night after receiving these photos late. I am now the most excited about this car, since I started building the rear axle in Jan ! Going to see it now ! 74063224964__FC5CF84C-7634-4B15-94DB-2112F15B838B.jpg 74063227760__151E6E12-7A37-469E-A692-7DD23BD0FC67.jpg 74063216546__7862EA7B-EAF6-4FAE-8BD2-A6832002DFF0(1).jpg 74063220359__672131EF-2857-4C96-8EBE-E4B91DF3D0E3.jpg 74063213606__87D905CB-DBB1-41A6-8F07-D05D346BA591.jpg 74063215123__01D97265-A8D3-40E6-8AAB-94BE99FBD502.jpg 74063211617__359D551C-1F2E-4924-B5EA-F605E2652F06.jpg

I went to Chris's shop to see it in person. He fashioned a piece of aluminum tube into the silhouette of the body shape he is to achieve. Now he can go forward on the mid-section mockup, then on to nose section. Lots of work to get it right, it will be fun to watch it come together. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that he’s done this type of work before…

Looks great. Be watching to see how you start this beauty. Appears no old fashion push start. How much of body up or maybe plug in battery & self start. Always building great stuff

It will have a battery cart and plug on the RH side panel. Since it has a clutch and transmission, we will push start it with my ‘40 pickup every chance we get.

Hi Marty, no need to respond, I know how busy a project is like this. This is the guy that Mick introduced you to, that you very kindly showed your shop. I'm not sure if I ever wrote after, (I might have, I meant to) but I so much appreciated seeing your projects. I've been heads down building on my project; no where near as cool as yours but I'm enjoying the creating. Seeing these pictures of yours shaping up... so cool. You're making a smoking cool car. It looks awesome.

Isaiah, the car can't be very far from you, I will introduce you to Chris, so you can look at it up close.

Some more mockup fab shots, with the profile of the top rib finalized, to the tip of the nose. Slow tedious work, setting the silhouette. Now, for a couple more horizontal, and all of the vertical ribs.

Aluminum foil! It's much lighter and doesn't get your fingers all messy while you're working with it. :D

I think it was measuring for the ramp needed to clear.

Kind of like when we made gourds in grade school. We paper mache'ed light bulbs, when they got dry, we would whack them on the table to break then bulb, and we had rattles.

It's going to ride in this truck backwards. There will be 2 narrow fold up ramps. IMG_5658.JPG
