If you were to chop it, it's gotta be a NICE job too, because selling an ugly chop in the nude is gunna be hard.... I'd say a nice tig or o/a wouldn't hurt but isn't gunna be worth your time

Post #30, I guess you kinda put it in a nutshell.I was trying to avoid turning this into a major project, but a half-assed approach won't gain me a thing at sales time.I got all fired up seeing that other car and my brain clicked into" 15 year old mode" ( "it'll only take a couple of hours, and it will look totally cool, come on Beav, let's do it." Oh,Larry, I don't know,my Dad will kill me!")But you're ALL right; spend the time fixing something that needs to be fixed, not making more work for someone (me?). I just finished a two year coupe project and was going to take a break from major undertakings for a bit ( I have a roadster that was next on the assembly line, and another one that's built that needs "upgrades") but I suppose if the coupe's already sitting outside the garage, maybe it wants to get done first?I'll set a lawn chair up, grab a cold drink, and go see what it says.( New reality show "Car Whisperer") By the way, that "34 in your avatar is killer! Maybe THAT'S what I need!! So little time, so many cars!

Chopped 3" , channeled 4.5" , fenders and running boards re-fitted. Total height- 59". I like it- I might finish it next winter! BTW- that roadster did get stuck together and sold- lots of garage time this year when not on snow removal. Have a good summer everyone; drive safe.

  6. If selling don't chop. I may want to build one with not chop and a ton of channel, if you catch my drift.
If you are keeping it and like em chopped then by all means chop it.

  7. If you were going to keep it, I'd say 5" is just too much. Going to sell it, just leave it alone.

Post #34--- IS the car and it IS chopped and I LIKE it and may finish it next winter. Seems to be some confusion about what's going on here ( I thought it was me)(again) Only 3" , but the proportions look pretty good to me. And that's all I've got to say about that.

You will still have less market reach after you chop it, but you only need one buyer and the world probably contains one. How about a build/ chop thread? Oh! For what it is worth, I wouldn'd dream of chopping it.

Hilarious!! Nobody reads beyond the first posts now a days. Most are only interested in their own thoughts.
I think you did good. 3" is perfect for a full fendered car.

If chopping it for sale, will you recoup your time and effort and reflect that in sale price?
If selling flip it 'As Is'. If you're keeping it, it's a personal choice. As stated, don't invest too much time and effort for little monetary result and narrow your shortlist of prospective buyers. Let them decide once it's left your hands.

Support your local Optometrist. I think it's time for this one to go home, Mr. Wizard. Thanks for all the input / output and miscellaneous thoughts that this meaningless project has caused to be brought to light. Valuable parts ( and some real junk) were saved from the crusher , and no wildlife was put in harm's way during this endeavor. All un-answered questions will be considered incorrect. Good Luck.

Nice work mike . I really dig it. If you build every car for another guy you'll never build anything special or unique . I build what I like and I've never had a problem selling anything. Proceed as planned or unplanned. Good luck. It's gonna be cool ass hell.

  20. What the hell? NOW we're required to read BEYOND the thread title? Wait til I tell Ryan you guys are tryin' to turn the H.A.M.B. into a reading/comprehension class!

The rear fenders will need some creative surgery too, but I like where it's going.

Thanks Ray- at least it put everyone in a good mood! (?) I put together what I can with what I have and it kind of dictates itself. I'm just doing what the car wants me to. ( I might run a banger in it and totally color outside the lines. Or a tunnel rammed 327?? ) Just a Po' boy tryin' to have fun , Boss! That ends this block of instruction. No homework tonight. Remember to work on your term papers.
