Have a '56 Desoto 2 dr hdtop I would like to convert to parade car. Frame need to be beefed up? Anyone have any experience? Photos?
The roof of the car provides strength to the body,,without it the door gaps will flex,Convertibles have a much stronger inner rocker panel which is tied into the A & B pillars which are also heavier construction and most convertibles also have heavier, strengthened frames, which is why Factory Convertibles are heavier cars
Just weld the doors Me and friends did that i our 20´s so had newly inspected cheap car, off with roof weld the doors and have a covertible for two summers and have a blast.. Not goofing off topic, Dave MC is wrote good info...
Yup. Weld the doors shut. And, restrict the number of p***engers to no more than four. Driver included. And, they must all weigh below 200 lbs each. Remember, no dancing, hopping up and down. No sudden moves. No speed bumps. You'll probably be okay. Kinda. Maybe. Sorta.
