Hello, Since this site is a favorite place to be, the rules for all stories and photos should be what it mentions as a limit. Traditional hot rod photos 65 or earlier. So, with that in mind, it should be about everything 1965 or prior. Sure, it has been stretched in some threads, but the idea of sticking to the traditional hot rod stories and photos is still a mainstay, as per HAMB requirements. But, for those that are younger, your world is what you see and want to express your ideas and choices. But, Sammy Hagar with “I can’t drive 55” is a cool song, it is well beyond the traditional 1965 or earlier limits, stories, photos or otherwise. My choice of a Beach Boys song was something we used to listen to as teens or 20 somethings. But, it was not the mainstay of our lives. There were tons of other types of music. It was just that in 1962, those Beach Boys songs started a following from the surfing crowd and the hot rod crowd with their melodies and titles. Little Deuce Coupe, 409, etc. But, we can’t all listen to those cruising songs all of the time. Today? Listening to any Beach Boys songs is not what we do. There are too many different kinds of music to enjoy. But, as far as traditional 1965 or earlier, they do fall in the category as set for all of us on these threads. So, for nostalgia sake, that era comes to light for a second or two. YRMV Jnaki But, as far as a title of hot rod journeys at the time of the lyrics, it was a hot rod song written and performed in 1962 when we were in our 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery (station wagons, too) with our longboards surfing those spots along the USA Westcoast locations. “Huntington to Malibu to Rincon…and kicking out at Doheny, too…” Note: Noticeably missing are Trestles and Salt Creek… ha! Those are hard to rhyme in a song. But, they are two world class surfing locations and the powerful waves are well known in all surfing circles and publications, while being located on the So Cal coastline.
i don't know if we had it already but i stumbled across this thread again and had lots of fun listening to your fav's....
