Any info on the aluminum case ford top loader RUG series trans? I know the fourth gear is overdrive and it is an internal rail shifter but that's is about all I know. How strong is it? does it compare to the iron case ones? Will the Jeep shifter fit the top of this case to make it a floor shifter? Thanks for any info that can be given. I'm looking at one to put behind a mild Olds 425 in my 46 ford coupe with 3:73 gears.

I think you'll find the Jeep shifter would make it have a weird shift pattern, 1 and 4 up, 2 and 3 down.

Might want to see if you can find the Mopar type overdrive manual transmission that Chevy used in 80s trucks, I think they made some of them with the GM type front (mounts/input shaft) so it would be a bolt in.

Searched and found good info on a post from Brad54. If I can find one of these, I'll modify the bearing retainer to fit my olds bellhousing. the rest should be easy.
