Im trying to buy a 30 coupe with the lid off, and some homebrew posts, how hard is it to put posts off of a roadster on the cowl? or is it not possible without major rework? Or does anyone have a pic of a cool******** with some other kind of post.
A friend of mine built a 31 on 32 rails highboy roadster. He adapted 32 windshield stanchions, posts and I think the 32 w/s frame to it. He says it was a lot of work, but with all the body work stuff I see HAMB'rs doing - chopped tops etc. - seems like it wouldn't be that much work. Fwiw - the car can be seen in the movie "Starman." You might take a close look at the 30-31 roadster windshield stanchion. I'm guessing it could be even easier to adapt to a coupe body. Here's a pic of mine with 31 stanchions and 32 windshield posts - an easy swap by the way and to my eye better looking than the 31 posts. The right side post is knocked out of alignment cuz the pivot bolts aren't real tight and it gets hit when I squeeze by on the way to the back of the garage.
Check out how this guy did it. He started with a 30 5 window. Looks******in' http://www.schraderspeedshop.com/roadster/index.html
Okay, that guy from Schraders RULES! I am having issues with not just 1 but 2 Model A's that I have that previous owners decided to saw up (Sport Coupe and a Pickup). The guy who answered the phone was super helpful and even invited me to come check out his car to try and help me out. Nicest guy ever! Thanks for that link. Here is a shot of his car (Drool)...
Here is a couple shots of a windshield that the guy from Schraders made for a Hudson that they had whacked the roof off of.
