    Man that looks terrible,

and now the weather channel is saying a severe thunderstorm is headed right for Joplin!

Let's hope that gets diverted or falls apart before it gets to Joplin.

    Best wishes for everyone there!

Here in Webb City, all is good.
From our location, we could hear sirens of emergency vehicles from nearby towns responding.
There has been found debris on 7th street, but most of the damage is along 20th street and about a half mile wide. Some damage has occurred on 15th street.
as you all will see in national reports. the storm began its path near Galena Ks and actually becam destructive around 26Th and Schifferdecker and its curve was on a slight ly northeast direction along 20th street, continuing through 20th and Prosoerity road and onto I44 near Duenweg knocking around tractortrailer units and autos.
The weather guys are saying it reached 3/4 mile wide as it gathered strength before weakening.
At this time, 89 confirmed dead.many injuries.
Each time I was awake during the night, I could hear heliocopters arriving at the airport, then leaving. I am sure they were stopping just long enough to refuel..

The American Red Cross can always use donations, even donating blood is a GREAT idea and doesn't cost a thing.

Glad to hear you're ok, and the family, I totally understand your feelings, I was in Syracuse last month when they tore through Raleigh. Sucks.

    Thanks for checking in Jim.

These Tornados suck, they're hitting all over the place this year.

Jim, do you happen to know a guy named Will Craig? If so, any idea as to his status?

Thanks for the heads up on Bob. At least him and his family are safe and unharmed. Please let us know if there is anything we can do from afar to assist him.

If you guys are looking for friends and loved ones; please check out the Facebook Group dedicated to finding survivors called: Joplin, MO Tornado Survivors

People have been posting names and information on wherabouts and phone umbers to be contacted at for any news on finding these people.

Im glad to hear our HAMBers have checked in safe and sound. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this tornado. The devastation is beyond words. Many prayers coming your way this morning from New England

We finally got in touch with my uncle there, my aunt works for the hospital that was hit. She said that the sirens went off less than five minutes before the tornado hit. Its amazing how many people that they got to a safe location in the hospital in that short of time. My hat is off to them!

  19. This is terrible. Anyone heard from Breeder? Is he anywhere near Joplin?

Thoughts and prayers going out to all involved. Glad to hear HAMBers checking in and are safe. Regardless there probably won't be many in the area that aren't affected by the destruction, even if indirectly.

Im listening to the scanners in Joplin right now. Law enforcement is talking about body bags and where they should drop them off....how horrible. They are the most somber sounding emergency responders i've ever heard.

Emergency responders are special people who take great pride in what they do and helping people. I am dating a volunteer fire fighter who was also a paramedic. His father is the same. I know they have a high tolerance for death and the gruesome (with car accidents and such) but when something like this strikes at this magnitude; nothing will prepare them for it.

There are still a lot of storms on their way down here. Everyone is scrambling to find the lost and get roads clear for emergency vehicles.

  27. Nothing going to bypass them. The leading edge of the storm is on them right now and what is comming behind it is calling for hail and lightning. Looks ugly.

Sorry to be the purveyor if bad news.

Wondered if anyone had heard from Bob Massey? His hot rod shop is right behind Home Depot as well as his home and music store are along that path I think.

my best friend's parents live in Joplin and their house was totaled. Thank God, all of his family members are safe and healthy. He sent me this pic. He said the scene is tragic, thoughts and prayers go out.
