    Agreed.

When I was a kid in the Texas Panhandle we got hit by a bad hail storm -- my church lost over 150 panes of the stained glass windows. Cars in town had hail dents no more than 2" apart -- and that was in the late '50's when they were made of STEEL!

Another time a storm came through and turned a neighbor's 50 bushel/acre wheat into a muddy 2" thick carpet. A year's work gone in 15 minutes.:(

A really nasty storm came through -- they never figured out if it was straight line winds or a pair of twisters -- but an hour after it passed we picked up hailstones that were still bigger than an egg. Six of them filled a large-mouth quart jar.

I'll take storms over 'quakes. You get some warning with a storm -- with a quake it's too late by the time you really understand what's happening. (we had one here 10-15 years ago, just enough to rattle dishes on shelves:eek: )

What I can't work out is why does anybody ever settle in an area that they know will likely destroy there house every couple of years, such as tornado ally? :([/QUOTE]

    Buhwhahahhahahahhahahahahha!!!

Three bedroom, two Bath, two car Garage, fenced in back year on decent size plot in a neighborhood, $73,000 7 years ago. Now its worth $89,000. Gas is currently $2.79. Some smaller Mom & Pop restraunts, you can get a very good Burger and fries for $3.00-$5.00. 12 Oz RibEye is $12-$15 at nice restraunts.

I have lived here or southern Oklahoma by Texas Border the better part of 30 years. Seen probalby three live (with my own beady little eyes) tornadoes in person. Most are on TV and just in neighbor town or open fields. Its the Hail that sucks. That is a every couple of year occurance. Id say in my life, I know fo Tornadoes killing 11 people (all the May 5th). Other than they, they just stir up landscape and take out a house, maybe two.

We PROBABLY have more people die from Alochol Posioning at College parties in onw year, than probably the entire history of all tornadoes for the state.

Then a tornado hits, your talking maybe a house or two tops, perhaps a barn and a lot of open field, the May 5th one was a freak occurance. When a Earthquake hits, it WILL affect EVERY house, Everywhere it is felt or seen.
