I bought a set of Torque Thrust D wheels for my Model A. Yes they are made in China, but the quality is excellent. I'm very happy with them.
View attachment 5571374 I haven’t had an issue with them yet, but the quality did actually go up as the cap screws are stainless countersunk Allen’s and the wheel mounting is conical. Something changed besides manufacturer location...[/QUOTE] Kevin What would be neat is if American started making the polished aluminum center caps again!
LOL, no they are not. I have purchased many sets of Chinese aluminum heads and the castings were very good. Always dis***emble them, re-machine and lubricate the ***embly before installing...and polish them while they are apart. I have drag raced those Chinesium TT's for years on MT DOT drag tires and never had a problem. The thing I don't like is the lathe cut aluminum rim, they require sanding, polishing and dulling to look cool.
I purchased the Torq Thrust TTO's and found them to be very good quality. Yes, they're made overseas, but I think American's QC over the manufacture has ensured they're good quality. I like the looks of mine, and especially like they're cut for conical lugnuts, and not the old shank style lugnuts. The pricing on these makes them economical and much less than many other modern wheels that have a vintage look.
LOL! I meant dulling. I like to polish the heads to a high sheen and then steel wool them so they look like they have been on there for a few years.
Well now Pilgram, I reckon that depends on what a man thinks is best. I put a hole in the last cowpoke who snickered at my horse's chrome shoes. I do regret painting him in hindsight, but I still own the tuck and rolled saddle. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
