hey Todd - you and Aaron are both at the mercy of the weather - and frankly I hope that the weather is nice........which means you wont be there.
If there is some way for you to not work - and we still have nice weather up here - I am all for that!

I talked to Aaron at the Hunnert about bringin up his ride. I may try to get him to talk again at the Mooneyes show in 2 weeks.

I send a PM to ya there Dave - I suggest people reserve at the Comfort Inn which is only 5 minutes away from the show in Dyersville. Mention the Torque Fest and they will get ya a little bit better rate.

If anyone in the midwest needs posters for their shops to promote the show.....email me! I have had several people telling me they have seen some of the national ads we have placed. Hope that turns some people on to the show.

    It's gonna be fun.

We are proud to announce some new sponsors for the show!

    Rebel Wire

    http://www.rebel-wire.com/

    and

    Porter Mufflers

    http://www.portermufflers.com/

Both of these companies have agreed to help with the show and will either GIVE away product OR donate it for auction that will be at the show.

Glenn and Clark are both super cool guys that I have been able to talk to in the past and when they both told me they wanted to help out with the show.......
I was blown away - so thanks!
    We appreciate it!

    And
    on the art show.........

we have just secured one more legend - skating legend that is - Steve Caballero will be contributing to the art show along with Max Grundy, Big Toe, 3Sheets, Jeff Norwell, Ed Tillrock, LowCab, John Bell, Car N Art, etc - many more on the Art Show link on the site.

Thanks for all the support that we have received in 2009.
Now that 2010 is here - we are really going to need everyone to help out!

Reverend Horton Heat's BIG BLUE CAR

that is right - the car that inspired songs from the Reverend Horton Heat will be at the Torque Fest

    woo hoo

The owner even has a video presenation of rare early Reverend Horton Heat stuff that he will bring to the show - live stuff, early public service announcements, etc

Pretty cool if ya ask me ..........the car has only been shown one time since the Petersen Auto Museum asked the car to be a part of the Cars and Guitars exhibit! Now it heads over to Torque Fest for it's first show since some "cleaning". The 1950 Ford Custom Coupe will have plenty of people talking about what this car was put through all those early years in Deep Ellum, TX.

I'm pumped!!!! Sent in my vendor info, can't wait for the show. This will be my first set up at a show and what an awesome one for that!! Also can't wait for the malibu hats, got some interesting ideas for that.

  24. What are the times needed for volunteers? What type of jobs will the volunteers be doing? Will this be a family friendly event? Any other info the volunteers may need to know? I cant wait for this event.

    Thanks for the questions.

YES - this IS a family friendly event.

I will have my mother in law and my 3 year old and my 8 year old there as well.

We are just getting ready to finalize some details on the model show and I will post them here on the thread within a few days - but the first 25 kids under the age of 12 are gonna receive a free model just for walking in the door.
I really feel that ANYTHING we can do to keep the kids attention on hot rods is a good thing. One of the ways is to get them to build a model. Hopefully one of the parents can sit down and take the time to actually build one up with the youngster.......

Also - to generate excitement the Winner in the Under 12 Class for Best Model will receive $50

That is not a gift certificate or some online store credit. That is a good ole $50 bill that can be spent in anyway the kid wants (probably on a video game right? ha)

StickShift is getting some details lined up and then we will get everything posted here and on the site.

As for volunteers - we are hoping to get parking duty (there will be different parking areas. The ones outside the show are: 1) daily driver parking area 2) Cars that are nice but dont meet the qualifications - a friend of ours has a Porsche and is gonna drive it up - he gets to park in this area as well as a buddy of mine that has a '65 Corvette and a buddy of mine from Dubuque that has a Chevelle along with other street rod/classic cars.
Inside the show we will be needing car parking for 1) cars that are going to go out on the dirt track 2) cars that are NOT gonna hit the dirt 3) cars that are going to be inside the indoor kustom/show rod area (this area is filling up already and if you want to be inside - email me!)

so there you have 2-3 people in each area.......so that is 15-20 people needed for parking.

We will also need people standing out front telling people which area to go to. So that is another few people directing the cars where to go needed.

Once inside - we need people to help with the vendor area in the morning - cause there will be some vendors that will not show up on Friday so they will be needing help getting set up and tables adjusted etc. This will be a floating position that will be needed all day when vendors need help or when bands are loading unloading their equipment.

We will need guard goons!!!!! (or whatever ya wanna call em) I am NOT qualified to be the arbiter of what can get in and what can not........
I honestly feel kinda bad when cars get turned away.
There are some guys out there (like a couple of my dads friends) that think they should get to come in even though they have total late 80s style street rods (complete with mural graphix). If I have to have that responsibilty then I will wind up letting everyone in- and then the show becomes lame and just like any other car show. I have been able to TELL people that their cars wont be allowed to come in - but if they are there in front of me I am not sure what I would say............
so I need YOUR help in this department fer sure!
This way when people complain about how this car or that car got in to the show - I will be able to say - well - this person was on duty when that car got in!!! ha - see how easy that was to shift responsibility?

Also - another VERY important responsibility is to have ALERT - NON DRINKING - people assigned to track duty.
This will be at least 2 people along with me making sure that no Pedestrians get on the track while there are cars making laps.
SAFETY is the most important word at this show if we want it to be an ongoing event.
I will post more info soon.

Back on the family friendly definition-
NO DRINKING AND DRIVING at this show.........there will be drinking at the show......and there will be driving - but not in combination with each other.
If you check the #1 Driving rule on the site you will note this.
When you come into the show and if you intend to drive on the track you will be given a set of driving instructions.
Again you will see that the #1 rule is no drinking and driving.

I am well aware that there will be people partying at the show.
THAT is why we have camping ON SITE.
I may even kick back a few while watching the AfterDarks on Friday night.
And Saturday night I will almost positively sip a little sumthin while watching Federation of Horsepower.
Anyway - there is full bar onsite and I have already told the owner of the speedway that PBR will be needed.

So I guess the definition of Family Friendly is open for interpretation.

I can tell ya I am a God Fearing, Church Goin, One Woman Man and I will not be afraid to have my wife and kids at the show...........I hope that you will not be afraid to have your wife and kids show up either.

I guess if you have any questions - just email me privately either through coolstuff@earthlink.net or pm me.

    Other questions?

  27. Can't wait!! Is it time to go yet??

Sounds like a Hell-OF-A-Good-Time! I'm located in Pittsburgh, Pa, Not sure if I have the time to make it there..?
I'll have to map it out and see if it's possible for me to do and if the 47 is up to the task.
I've heard about the show down but never made it there yet...!

Dueevil - I think that would be the long distance award if you came all the way to IOWA.........
The Jalopy Showdown is in your backyard and I would hate for you to miss out on THAT show cause ya drove all the way over here and the state of Iowa would not let some East coast Steeler fan go back home!
    ha

Seriously though - if you have never been to that show - YOU HAVE TO GO!
Scary Larry knows what he is doing and his guidance in the beginning stages of our show helped us out immensely.

details for the show that I feel is the most FUN show out there:
