I need to go pick up a manual but itll be a bit until I can get one and I need to finish torqueing some bolts. Wondering if anyone can just send me the torque specifications in the meantime. <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o> </o> Need Torque specifications for:<o></o> Oil pan bolts<o></o> Side cover bolts<o></o> Valve cover bolts<o></o> If anyone knows where to find this online please point me to it
ChevTalk is for all Chevs, just post your Q's in the year your car/ engine is. http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/portal/index.php? I rarely torque those bolts, just snug them up and then light snug again the next day. No need to overtighten them.
^^x2 They aren't subject to any loads or pressures so that is all that's needed. If the gasket gets pushed out you went to tight. Just a bit past snug is all you need. Sent via Illinois Bell Telephone Company's Car Radiotelephone
For little stuff like valve cover bolts I got into the habit of always using nothing bigger than a short handled 1/4" drive ratchet. Tighten things using just one hand and don't pull on the furthest end of the ratchet handle. Try to keep the drive end of the ratchet centered in the palm of your hand so you don't get too much mechanical advantage. After you do this a few times it's easy to develop a feel for how tight is too tight.
