torsion bar lowering question...55 packard.

a friend of mine has a 55 packard with torsion all around. how low can you lower it by cranking down the bars?...thanks,mike

 

It is a self leveling system. There is an electric motor on each bar. I suppose you could by-pass the electrics and manually turn them. They sit pretty high to begin with so it's not gonna be on the ground plus then you gonna really piss off the Packard restorers around here.

There ain't any springs to cut so I suggest getting a bigger girlfriend.

I don't think there is any way to crank the bars like a more conventional system. The leveling system raises and lowers the rear. I don't think it has any effect on the front at all. I don't have my leveling system working yet so i am not absolutely sure. You may want to ask here:
