Have any of you fine Ladies and Gentlemen ever built or looked at closely Total Performance T bucket kit. I would like you impressions on quality, fit, ect... I found one at a reasonable deal but know little about the company. Thanks in advance. Jim
Toal Performance is 5 minutes away from my house . They look like they have quailty stuff . I will use them for some of my model A build . some of their stuff is close to speedways price . they have been building cars for a long time .
I have a T frame from them, it was well made and I like many of the frame parts they make like the shock mounts. Bit more pricey than Speedway but a little prettier. I like the fact they gave me lots of options for how built up I wanted the frame.
They are made pretty nice, and they have certainly done enough of them so you know they have it down pretty good. They seem pretty helpful in the store too. Only thing I would question is their use of "nutserts" to hold the bodies on. Easy enough to change if you don't like 'em though.
They have been doing a build of one the last few issues of Street Rodder. They also have a new store/shop in Ormand Beach.
Mickey and the guys at Total Performance are great! They have an excellent product and great customer service. They are really a friendly company producing a quality product. As for their nutserts to hold the body on, they work. Don't ask me how I know
Yeah Jim, you need to check out Street Rodder for the last 4 or 5 issues. Jim Rizzo's wife Candy has been building one. After my wife read several of the articles on Candy's progress, and that she could do almost all of the build herself, has decided she wants one. They, Total Performance, has taken the guess work out of putting all the parts needed together for you... check out their site. I'm pretty sure you can buy it with what 'you' want. Mott
Buddy of mine built one and is very happy with it...the articles in the last few issues of Street Rodder are pretty good you might want to check them out as others have said.
If it is cheep, it may be a good entry level car, but the resale value isn't there IMO. The components they make have a look of their own, if you like the 1970's T Bucket look that is what you'll get.
I don't think he sold it but he did open a Florida shop.I have nothing to do with the company other than a customer myself but I can tell you you will not find a better T kit anywhere or get better service than total offers.Spend the 25$ for their manual you won't regret it you'll use it for referal a lot even on other builds. You can download the manual from their web site as well.If this is your first T build join T Bucket forums lots of help there T specific then again most of those guys are most likely here as well
built one for a customer a few years back nice kit i changed the nutzert deal but other than that o.k.
There is a guy here in my town who just finished one... first time builder... very nice looking car. It wasn't a T-bucket - perhaps the King T - but it looks good. Gary
Shoot down to Florida. They had a facility in Ormond Beach when I was down in May. They Had a storefront at the Harley Dealership plaza, closed it up, and went up the street a few miles.
What did you change the Nutzert to? They are a super great company, great people to deal with & always helpful.Prices are great & quailty is top notch, only thing is that i wish they would make there frames 3/16' rather then 1/8" Go for it. JimV
"Hotrod" Liz Kitzul from Winnipeg has one that she built back in the early 90's. It has close to 200K miles on it, with little more than routine maintenence to keep it on the road. I've driven the car and it is definitely a quality piece.
I live 20 min away. Quality stuff, Customer service great, will not sell you stuff you don't need always helpful..... My t-bucket is not a Total Performance and they are still helpful ..........
I used them to for my chassis. Very good stuff and when I called them I got great advice. Very good out fit.
Forgot to mention earlier that Mickey and his crew lurk here on the HAMB!I don't know any of their screen names but I have talked to a few of them at local events including the T Bucket Nationals and they are well aware of us here.I spoke with them about possibly becoming Alliance Vendors shortly after the Alliance was started thats when I found out they were already on here.Chevygirlrocks has stress tested those Nutsert body mounts and she can tell you from expierience they will hold that body to the frame way beyond a point you want to put them to
the thing about TP is that everthing they sell is actually enginereed to work together. if you wanna buy EVERYTHING from them as a bolt up package it can get expensive, but its NICE stuff. i'm not particularly fond of the chassis length because of my personal asthetic, but they build it that way for very good reason. nice stuff.
Me too! I don't like the long wheelbase cars. I like the 100" wheelbase better. I ordered the info on the King T. It looks great! Would go with a steel 27 body though.
The King T is a nice body and chassis set up, I've seen it up close a few times. The King T info along with links to the StreetRodder mag articles are on their homepage here: http://www.tperformance.com/ Here is the t-bucket I 'tested the nutserts' on built back in 2005. RIP 8.6.2006 Built traditional in style with a 239ci Y-block and auto transmission.
Completely their kit with the exception of some custom bracketry (for steering and motor mounts) and cut down foam for the interior. The car ran and drove awesome, probably one, if not the, best handling cars I've ever driven.
Any more pics? Your's is one of my favorites. I will run a Stude V8 and a few other differences but you nailed it with that one.
