  1. I’ve done this a few times. Wait for the earth to rotate to a position when the truck is uphill. Then coast down to your house.

Then he probably saw my message that it wasn't my intention to run him off and a suggestion that he give the HAMB a chance.

But Danny's right. A few years ago, merely asking how to move a truck one block... with an at***ude... he would've been chopped into tiny pieces. LOL

Shoot... I came here with a smile in my heart and a spring in my step, and certainly didn't call anybody a "key tard"... and still got my *** handed to me and my entire first thread deleted. And I didn't whine and ***** about it.
    BUT I AM NOW!!! :D

Did a bad job of rebuilding a driveshaft in a torque tube setup on a hot rod once….literally made it halfway around the block before some clearance issues became big deals and the driveshaft welded itself to the inside of the torque tube and locked it up good. I walked back to the house, got some wheel dollies, the wife, and my truck and went to bring it home. Thank baby Jesus that DW just happened to cruse by at that exact moment to help guide this thing back to my driveway. What a mess…but no one died and my wife was only a little mad at me for yelling at her when she was driving the truck. Slow and steady.

The only way to go this method will ensure that you will be able to stop the rig no matter what provided you use a heavy enough chain.

Some of you guys need to move your bed over so you can get up on the other side...........apparently there is a lot of getting up on the wrong side of the bed these days.
Personally I don't see the value in torching a new guy. Perhaps we have all forgotten how inept we were in our early mechanical and automotive challenges..........before we all got to be experts. Some of the replies were pretty funny, others weren't. I think most of the time the poster could tell which were which. Let him get his feet wet and see how the abuse works before kicking him to the curb.:)

Just to elaborate, most of the advice I received in my formative years generally involved a mild to moderate *** chewing, along the lines of if you had to ask you already realized what ever you were planning, it might not be the smartest thing to do and about having paid any attention at all to high school physics cl***, or the fact that most things were designed and engineered to be reasonably safe, so don’t **** with it. While it may not suit some, it did get through and teach me to think for myself , did I do some dumb ****? sure did, which involves another incontrovertible law, if you’re doing something dumb and it goes badly the whole world going to just happen to p*** by. That being said, I do still have all my fingers and toes/ eyes, which growing up in a rural/ agricultural area means I did pretty well. We’re not all a product of some mamby pamby, touchy feely utopian society so if you ask you should be prepared to take what you might get.

Like you Rick I wasn't looking to make waves and didn't come in with a chip no my shoulder.

I remember in the past where it was expected that the newbie post a intro? Imagine that newbie having the caps lock on and the entire intro was in capital letters, I could have written the code to cure cancer or how to make a 3 window deuce from pine needles, it would not have mattered, I got proverbially beat to a pulp for yelling ( I didn't know my **** from a hole in the ground when it came to a computer) but I knew the guys on this site like the kind of cars I did.

After the dust settled for a few days, I logged back in and tried to stay unnoticed until I got the feel for things around here, thank the Good Lord that hotrodladycruzer reached out to me as did Deuce Roadster and they encouraged me to keep trying, during that time there were several members that would have liked to see me gone, thankfully I stuck with it and those naysayers have moved on. HRP

There was no way I was gonna log out and never come back, I just had to grown thick skin. :D:DHRP

    Wow, man. Just... WOW!

It's kinda like a prison shower around here sometimes. ***le of this thread may as well have been "Look guys, I dropped the soap!"

Boy, some of you base your ENTIRE self-worth around this hobby and it shows.

When I see this ****, I write a LOT of these kind of posts, then delete them because... why bother? But, COME ON, GUYS! Enough is enough.

A LOT has changed since I joined in 2009. A LOT. In that 13 years, some of you guys have gotten crabier but some of you have gotten down right mean.

Whether you want to believe it or not, when you run these folks off, you're changing the nature of their builds and not for the better. AND, you're changing the nature of this hobby. You're taking the COOL out of it and replacing it with CONTEMPT.

****, some of you have caused people to sell their **** and get out of this hobby completely. I hope you're happy with yourselves.

You're making the whole thing unpalatable to younger guys and girls. I mean, who the hell is going to keep this hobby alive if you gaslighting gatekeepers keep your **** up? And who the hell would want to if THIS is how it is?

It's hard to be, or stay, excited about something AFTER you've been exposed to all of this nastiness and negativity. Especially when you have the wherewithal to feel like you should ask about doing something BEFORE you do it, and turn to the folks you think are here to help you, only to be greeted with this horse****.

I truly believe some of you want this hobby to die when you do.

And, of course, the PO IS going to lash out. If you back a dog in the corner, don't ***** when you get bit!

Also, some of you need to remember that not all of us have "retired investment banker" money. And if you're just being as ***hole to keep what you consider the "dregs of society" out of the hobby, then you need to sell your tainted garbage, and get the hell off my internet.

If any of you feel "attacked" by what I just said, then YOU'RE part of the PROBLEM. And, by responding negatively to this post, you're going to be calling yourself out, right here in the open. So, please, be my guest.

    SHAME ON YOU GUYS! SHAME!

I mean, for ****'s sake, some of you guys are going to be hard pressed to find 6 people who like you enough to carry your dead *** to the hole when you kick off.

And, in a related note, since some of you guys just absolutely LOVE shoving "traditional" down people's throats, I submit to you this:

I don't see a flatbed or a u-haul trailer in this pic... no hard hats or orange vests... no police ******... do you? Nope, all I see is a car being towed with a pipe, and folks out there being ingenious and ENJOYING it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for safety. Actually, I DEMAND it in my ride. But have I done crazy, wreckless stuff in the past? You bet your sweet *** I have, AND SO HAVE YOU!

Some of you need to relax and remember the stupid **** you did with your Flintstone cars long before the first vestiges of the HAMB were painted on the wall of that cave you lived in.

It's not like the PO was going to be doing 70 on the freeway, flat towing a brakeless truck, with a rope, aiming at school busses filled with kindergarteners. He had to go a freakin' block and you guys just couldn't abide. Whatever.

So, I'm sorry, Mr. Gatekeeper. I hate to break it to you but this is not YOUR hobby alone. It belongs to ALL OF US, so start acting like it!

I didn't want to be an ***hole when I woke up this morning, yet here we are... AGAIN with this ********. AGAIN. SHAME ON YOU!!!

This is the part where I drop the microphone and walk off stage.

The pipe in the pic appears to be a solid link.

Anyways I went back to the beginning on the thread. Options ranged from “I’ve done it before” to “get a roll back”.
There were no insults or negative replies to the OP, until he came back and did selective quoting and added his comments.
Although I admire your reply, I don’t think it (or the other few replies) are warranted in regards to him “being run off”.

Safety is safety. I don't care who you think you are.
There was nothing negative that was said. **** hurt is **** hurt. Get over it.

Asking for advice generally means your uncomfortable, if it’s because it may not be safe/ ethical or whatever, what you’re doing is trying to alleviate that discomfort by hopefully achieving consensus a**** the peer group for what you plan to do, this is something children do. If your an adult and you plan to do something unsafe, that’s your decision to do it or not, don’t ask others to maybe share any guilt by ***ociation should your actions cause harm to yourself or others. As for the problem of finding 6 to drag my miserable *** to the hole, well at that point it won’t be my problem, will it : )
