Check your local laws regarding this.

In many states, if it has a tire on the road, it has to be registered and insured.

It only takes on cop, out to change the world, to create a nightmare for you.

You can figure about 3300 lbs for a complete 48 Ford plus or minus a bit. I've never weighed my trailert by it's self but figure 1500/1800 on it. That doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room under that 5 K towing capacity of an Explorer.

I've towed some sketchy rigs quite a ways at times but still two things beside weight are what count and that is condition of the tires and the wheel bearings and transmision if it has one because it will be turning in neutral in that car unless it no longer has a banjo rear end in it.

Personally I would go down and see what a one day rental on a box truck and trailer was if you get it returned by a certain time that day. Or see if a buddy with a 3/4 ton or larger truck is up to towing it if you buy fuel and a nice lunch and make sure that you top off his tank when you are done. I bought many a tank of gas and lunch for my buddy over the years when he helped me haul something and then I flat towed a dozen rigs 12 miles for him when he moved and needed help getting them moved and flat towed them with one of those old rental tow bars. I have no idea how many rigs I flat towed with that over the years as he finally gave it to me after I used it more than he did.
The main thing is be safe when you do it. Screenshot (2709).png
