Here is the nose on my TR there is an extensive HAMB Project build thread at: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=356019&highlight=track+roadster&showall=1
I'm glad I'm not the only one that has thought the same about those inserts. I thought I was becoming hotrod delusional.. The line at the euro wreckers is going to be long tomorrow..haha
I just finished redoing the shape of the nose on mine, with a scratchbuilt stainless grille. Need to work out what I am doing with lights next...
Wow! I hadn't seen this post in all my time on here! I'm gonna take some crap for this one, 'cause the nose and the car are 'glass, (horror of horrors!!) and the nose is commercially available. But, I have loved this little car for about thirty years now, and came pretty damned close to owning it in '90 or so. This nose was an Anderson Industries piece when they were around, but Speedway acquired the mold there after. In my opinion, the shape and size of this piece is perfect on an early "T" based track car. As for the car, you can pick it apart in the context of today's "perfect traditionalism", But in the late seventies or early eighties when it was built, this thing was big-time breath of fresh air by comparison to the then emerging "high tech" era. Walking through the swap at L.A.R.S. in '90 or '91, I spied this car for sale at something like 5500.00 with the worst wheel and tire combo that could be imagined (think L-78 14" all the way 'round) and lots of wear and tear. I had the money, I had another set of wheels and tires, and I still can't remember why I DIDN'T buy this car... Never saw it again ever.
I posted pictures of my in post #5, it has the same nose as the one above, but mine has the cast aluminum grille. And yes the car is glass....
I've always liked your car Fat Ass White Walls. If I'm not mistaken, it was a feature car back in the early nineties/late eighties in Rod Action or American Rodder; right?
