Track T or T bucket?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Gas Stove-bolt, Aug 28, 2013.

  1. A friends son is 24 and wanting a car. He is not tool talented but wants to build something. I said I'd help but am not building it for him.

    Here is the question:
Are there T-Bucket/ Track -T kits other then Speedway?
Which would be better for first time build?
Can you buy a whole kit less drivetrain?
    Cost?

This young man wants to go Hotrod instead of ricer/ 22's on a late model.
Help keep the spirit going. I'm taking him to Greaserama this weekend. You never know.

    Thanks

I'd honestly stick with Speedway on this deal. They are fairly centrally located and a T-Bucket kit is sorta "bread and ****er" for them. You can order enough stuff for the car to make it a complete roller less engine and trans, but you'll have to sit down with their T-Bucket catalog and add the whole deal up to get a result. I would go T-Bucket just simply because there is less stuff to align and hang on a 'Bucket.

Spirit has a very good reputation for customer service. There's also CCR, RPM, and quite a few other manufacturers. Take a look at www.tbucketeers.com.

If I remember right, Speedway bought out Total Performance years ago, which use to be the Bucket T kit Company. I'd go with Speedway also.

When you need to order parts, considering where you are located, I'd be surprised if they're not on your porch within 2 days from Speedway....the other's, ??? I'm not saying they're bad, as I don't have any experience with them, but Speedway is practically next door. I live in Western KS and have gotten stuff from Speedway the next day in some cases.

I would go the track T route you can hide anything under the hood and have a sporty look for a younger driver.

To me the Track T just looks better. Just my opinion.

  10. Thanks for the info. I didn't mean to dis speedway, I buy from them. I was just wondering what else is out there. I got a catalog today and the T stuff was not a total kit.

I will over see this build but want him to do the wrenching. ( he buys the beer). I think he will have more pride and more then likely keep the hotrod juices flowing. I love seeing the kids digging on old cars. It just isn't as cheap as it was when I was a kid.

I will make, I mean, guide him this way and we'll run a build thread.

    Thanks

Speedway sells a kit that has everything other than running gear. You need to get the T specific catalog. Spirit also has a pretty complete kit. Even then, I almost did a Track T, but I like buckets better.
