Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by greaserchief, Oct 13, 2010.

  1. I need info on the track width of a 1938 Lincoln, The one i am buying is missing the rear end and i'd like to know what it was so i can replace with some thing similar but modern, just need a good source not witty sarcasm like "just measure and see what fits".

  2. Don't got an answer to that so "just measure and see what fits".

Sorry just couldn't resist. But now someone else will look to see what I wrote and that'll get things going for you.

    Man a '38 Lincoln. Coupe?

just cruise the local used car lots looking for 1938 Lincolns, ask if you can measure the rear end. Can't believe someone hasn't suggested this yet.

Not witty sarcasm but it seems rather simple to just measure the width of the body at the inside fender edges and then again at the wheel tubs. You now have a good measurement to work with. Finding a number in a book, no matter how authoratative will only give you a "center of wheel" track measure...not much help if you intend to use anything other than stock rims/tires.

  6. I love you guys, why didnt i think of that

  7. but really, can someone just tell me the right answer.

I don't have the "right" answer...plenty of wrong answers. One idea though...maybe you could find someone selling an original '38 Lincoln, and ask them if they'd mind measuring for you? I thinkin' very few stock '38 Lincolns here. Good luck greaser.

    A bunch of 'em here:

Hey greaser...I was mistaken. (that's a big surprise...LOL) I found two original '38 Lincolns for sale here on the HAMB. Go to classifieds, cars for sale, search for "stock 1938 Lincoln". Send them a PM.
