My son, my wife, and I were sitting in the DeSoto yesterday as my son pretended to take us for a ride. What a great car, all three of us sat in the front seat with plenty of room to spare. During the trip I decided it was time to clean out the glove box. While doing so I found a *****in Utica Club bottle opener, a pack of 6volt bulbs, a comb, an old ice s****er, an inspection sticker from 1976, and a note pad with service records going back to the '60s.

Every oil change was archived, alternating "summer oil" to "winter oil" and so on. Then on the last page it reads "engine job June 1974. 94,ooo miles" The odometer reads 97,480miles today. No wonder why this thing runs like new, this whole time I was giving Marvel Mystery Oil all the credit.:D

I also noticed a name and a phone number on the cover of the note pad, the number uses the current 7-digit system. I wonder if I could track down the PO or his kin? The car was last on the road in '76, the man could very well be dead by now...maybe I'll call the number and see who answers.

  2. I would... I've found people that once owned a boat I bought and that was after 35 years!

They were still living in the same house listed on the registration and apparently sold the boat to afford a new baby on the way!

Call the number, if it is the previous owner they would probably be happy to talk to you and be thrilled their old car is still around.

Do an online reverse phone number look-up, see if the names match, take it from there.
