Tractor grill shells

Then why do alot of guys like 32 rails under there A's? The A rails seem to work just fine for most powerplants out there(smaller and lighter).

 

hunh? You have obviously never seen what an A frame does under V8 power, even when boxed. The 32 frame is much better suited... and it's fucking traditional unlike tractor grill shells.

It would seem that the concencus of this thread is that tractor shells are for rat rods. That conclusion could be drawn by the fact that 97% of the cars pictured here with tractor shells are RAT RODS! If you put the most pristine original deuce shell on a rat rod,it's still a rat rod. Anyone who thinks that Crusty Nuts green pick-up with the Ross shell on it is a rat rod is not thinking clearly. On the other hand,while it is probably not a rat rod,the shell on the gray tudor in post #322 is really ugly.
Also, I think I may qualify for the most usage of the term rat rod in a single post

 

I think that if you find the right lines in it, than use it. If you are just trying to piss people off by using thier eyes..use it. Not traditional past very old dirt track days.

To the car nutz that think it is an abomination.....! Grow a set, and let people do what they want w/their cars.

I am not a fan of tractor grills, but, there have been about three I could tolerate. But, this...

32 shells on anything but a 32 have been so over done its just as bad!

Many on here are followers and just agree with all the fucked up opinions.

 

They are ALL rat rods. Its a generation lable just like hot rod or jalopy was 60+ years ago.
Why every one gets there panties in such a knot over a fucking phrase is beyond me.

 

Oh, I think it would qualify What OTHER category would you suppose the builder was after?

I did it !......I read 18 pages of this crap !.....I wanted to leave a couple of times, but then I'd say to myself, " c'mon, I've gone this far "......Anyway, If you're thinkin' of using a tractor grill, you better make it look good, or you're in for a lotta shit.............Now.....I looked at those grills,and some look pretty good on tractors......My biggest bitch, (well, everybody else is bitching, why can't I ?)is pinstriping rusty car parts......That got me goin' more than anything when I saw that rusty tractor grill with pinstriping wasted on it......
OK.....now I can get on with my life feeling proud that I had something to add to this fine thread.......

 

Why would you put this much work into a car and then hang an ugly grille on it? There are alot of things that could have been done to make the car look different or stand out but this.....

 

You know the more I look at this thread the more I want to say...."well maybe it looks"............then I realize fuck no what the hell are you thinking.

Well,OK...the intake and carbs are excesive,but seriously,if you put a '29 shell on that it would not look too bad. I know it has red wheels,but maybe it's an old photo,you know,from 4 or 5 years ago when all the really cool HAMBers had 'em...

That thing on the front of it doesn't even look like a tractor grill...it looks like the heater covers in the library of my old high school...
