Years ago a friend went to a rod run in a small IA town and a guy drove in with a shoebox chassis that had a 8' round farm trough for a body. A T windshield on the trough lip and radiator shell hanging on the radiator made it a classic IA T bucket.

Ha! Careful review of the "readers' ride" section of 1950s magazines will show that the ugly to beautiful ratio was just as bad as it is today, and bad ideas have always been around.
There used to be a fantastic junk yard near me (RIP J&M Auto Salvage) that had quite a few aborted projects, some of which made me laugh out loud: a 1964 Galaxie 4-door hardtop with the roof CHISELED off, a 1950 Ford Fordor cut in half and arc-welded back together with the proportions of a clown car, and several others I hardly remember any more. The shoebox abortion had clearly been done decades ago.

I remember a few vehicles like that as a kid in the late 60s early 70s, they were called "swamp buggies". Which was odd because I doubt one would have much success getting out of a swamp with one. Or maybe they were called that because that's where they would eventually get dumped!

Well..., stylingwise, I agree it is "Interesting"-looking for sure.
But on the other hand, with the typical ratio of "started" projects vs. the ones that ever got finished through all times, looks to me he at least saw a most extensive project the whole way through into something that appears to have been fully operational at some point...

So what else was out there? Looks like a lot of cool stuff in the background.

  11. I seen one in a little car show in Iowa had a tbucket in it! Got closer and asked the owner what the hell it was ? He said he had a combine fire n said it was the inner body shell! I told him it was better off stil in the fire! NO SENSE OF HUMOR!
