I was talking to my old buddy Pete last night and mentioned I had a car for sale that he might like and he said you ought to come over and look at the pickup I've been working on.
So today I drove over and checked it out.

It's a '36 Ford...so after a little horse tradin' we came up with a deal...
We've been swapping trash for probably thirty years now...as a matter of fact, that's my old '33 cab in the background. There's a lot of neat stuff here and I have always enjoyed making the trip. And anyhow... everybody loves to hang out and talk old cars...right?
Now, Pete has always leaned a bit towards the street rodder thing, so there's some things here I'll probably live with and change later and some others I'll just live with period. I guess my goal is to make this look more traditional without undoing all the great work that's already been done Actually if the truth be known...I just love old junk...If you're interested I'll post some more pics and tell you what my plans are... but I warn you this could be a little slow...dudley

another view...the intended rear is to be a 8 inch Granada with Toyota truck springs ( they work out the same length as the aftermarket guys), the cab will be sprayed again and I'm working on a '41 column...I also like the T-bird...

the wheel of choice is an original Safe-T- Wheel that I purchased on the HAMB a long time ago...it was made for the '36 Ford and Lincoln except with stainless spokes, thereby the name...and the grip is slightly smaller giving it a lighter feel
I have the original paper work and an ad on this wheel around here somewhere...a '36 horn ****on works relatively well on this...Hoping to get a '41 column to shift my turbo 350 with...

the chrome center doesn't show up well in this picture...I need to clean up the outside a bit...

Not sure yet if I'm going to leave the interior color as is...so for the moment, I'm just collecting the parts. I tend to lean toward black maybe semi-gloss (for the column and wheel)...but not sure how that would look.

Yeah, I've wandered away from the older automobiles several times but they're my true p***ion. I like newer vehicles but like Pete says " they're not really me"

Now I've been thinking again...A buddy of mine is pulling an almost new 350 crate motor out of his truck (with a brand new Quadra-junk carb) I could probably get it fairly reasonable...or...I got a '62 235 Chevy six sitting on the floor in my garage. I'm considering just firing it up to see what I got...I mean I already have it...right?...whatcha think? You see where this is going...

Looks like a nice trade, somehow it doesn't have the normal amount of HAMB project rust. Bob

Wouldn't the 235/6 be to long for the engine bay?

Yeah, he's been rubbing on it a while before I saw it...we're about an hour and a half apart. I think my motor is more up to HAMB standards though...

It's set up for either Ford or Chevy now (as far as depth goes), so probably just a small cylindrical
indent would do it. The 235 measures a little less than 34 inches from the fan to the back of the valve cover. I'm going back up Friday to check a few things out, so we'll be discussing it at length (pun intended).

At least it ain't stuck...maybe some paint and some go fast goodies...

Looks good Duke! A hot 6 with a 4spd will fill the build! Can't wait to see it in person!

Seems like a pretty solid start. Just curious what OT was traded?
