Trading is the name of the game.
I like to trade up a few times then cash out.
It generally only works if you don't get attached.

Ive found that once the trade was initiated, whatever I got I could never cash out, always had to keep trading, or wait a long time to sell.
Y block 3 speed, flywheel and bellhousing for a clappedout 70 Mach one-did ok. there. Longest running, 55 Studebaker coupe for a 55 Morris Minor Woody gasser, traded the morris for a 55 Pontiac 2Dooor Hardtop, traded the Pontiac for a 69 Buick GS, traded the Buick for a 60 GMC Shortbed with a 389, traded the Gmc For a chevy Beretta, traded the berretta for a 70 Pontiac LeMans with a 400, sold the Lemans.

'74???? Maybe '70-'73, but the '74 got a low HP engine and the extra plastic extensions to the body at both ends. They're way uglier than the '70-'73 Vettes, and much less demand.

I been thinking of maybe trading my 64 plymouth strip car for a more friendly street car, but not sure what I would trade it for. Been interested in 64 pontiacs lately. The car is a roller right now but I do have a zero mile nicely built 440 and 727 sitting there also. The car can be street diven although it has a 430:1 rear.

  8. Big blocks were available in 74 along with roadster option. Maybe not the best look vette. But the original split (2 piece) bumpers still around after the GM recall can can make a 74 very collectable....

I'm looking for an 47-54 Suburban or cool 4 door wagon if anyone is wanting a badass bomb! My family is growing!

  10. 74 is also the last true dual exhaust corvette. That makes it more desirable than 75+ cars

I traded my 1936 Pontiac deluxe 8 to you for the 1949 f1. I have seen the Pontiac has made it's way to another. I am not saying the truck will stay with me for ever but it all starts with a car and a handshake. I added the visor.

My girlfriend is attempting something similar, but started with a $1 Tonka truck from the thrift store. It's going really well, pretty confident she'll have a real car by summer time.

I traded my '70 Cutlass convertible project for my '47 Olds coupe. My heart just wasn't into finishing the Cutlass anymore and I wanted that coupe bad, it worked out great for everyone. Trades can be fun.

  17. I traded this 58 Ford convertible: For this 35 Dodge truck with a fellow hamber. We each think we cheated the other so I guess it was a fair deal.

I wonder if they would add a "Trade Them Here" or "Barter" section in the Classifieds?

    That would rock.

I'd think somebody would want to trade their uncool '50s four-door for my two-door Falcons, but I'm not getting much interest yet!

  21. Looks like the trade on the 80 vette is going to be a winner... I put an add on craigslist to trade for pumbing in our new home/shop this spring ..Turns out plumbers like cheap Corvettes...unbeleivable response..

My neighbor is into the trading, last year he lost his ass on some trades. He doesn't know shit about cars. But this year he traded a bumper pull rv that was worth about 6k for a 03 soft tail, then he traded that for a fully built (in the 90's) 64 Malibu. The 64 was relay clean and well built, but it looked like Boyd did it. Then one day someone brought over a gangster mobile h2:eek: and he did the deal on that. I couldn't tell you what the things worth, nor do I care, but he thinks he is cooler than shit in it.

I always feel bummed when I let something go, so I don't anymore.

  30. Just picked up a money maker OT mustang 5.0 on the cheap from a guy moving that didn't have a means to take it with him. Hoping to turn this car into something more on topic for the wife to cruse in this summer. I've had decent luck with my trades in the past but things have been pretty dry here the last year or so.
