Not sure who chopped the 47, I gonna ask my friend, who orig bought it, if he still has any info.

I talked to Kevan about this thread and he said he is gonna post some. He is building another Merc for Reno in Mex City. Very cool story, he got his own thread about it. Check it out.

I'm ready for Santa Maria next weekend and maybe get some cool pics of cars this criteria. Some new cars, 'Traditional Drive In Progress', kinda. It's not gonna be my project for sure, not this time, this year, again! Driving my 'Lincolnater" daily driver. How lame is that? I'm shooting for GNRS, lets see.

I love that black 38 Nash, but its on bags, so took a pic from the top...jaja

  6. Hi guys. Think I post my project too.
Haven´t started yet , helping my son building a mild kustom out of his 59´Impala but when it´s done it´s time for mine. Got a 36 3w which gonna be buildt late 40´s early 50´s, yea I know there´s a lot of these going on but its a car I´ve been dreaming of and now I finally got one. Here´s some parts I got for the buildup.

    49´ 331" caddy
    40 Lasalle grill
    40 Chevy headlights
    39 Lincoln taillights
    37 Desoto bumpers

Gonna run buggy springs front and rear, just flatting the rear crossmember and a mooredrop axle in front .Trying to be as traditional as possible but its hard to keep it all the way and most likely theres gonna be a TH350 behind the caddy, it´s reliable and its been in my shop for a long time waiting for a car.Setting it up whith a 40´s columnshift to keep the floor clean.Thinking of paint it in lacquer but I´m not shure and theres a long way to go first.

By the way, its a nice thread hope to see moore in progress pics of your cars.

    Kenneth!

Kenneth, I can't wait till you get started on your project and post some pics. I like your idea with the caddy engine. I wouldn't mind the 350 transmission, because most of the other parts you are using are totally trad.

After I finish my 46, I am going to start on my 36 3 window, I'ts going to be 100 percent traditional, I've got the chasis aboat done, it's on a 40 chasis, has a reverse eye rear spring with 41 schacles, 39 trans, 59ab, Auzi Pete is suposed to fly out in november to chop it, maybe stephan can post a picture of it.

I'm doing a deal on a '41 Tudor. Love the thread that Magoozi started on '41-'48. I would like to lower it enough to give it "the look", use mostly stock suspension, but still allow it to be a great driver. I have read that cutting the hat on the rear crossmember will bring the rear down. What is usually done in the front besides a reverse eye spring? I'm hoping for 2"-3" drop. I also thought I would add '47-'48 kits for tube shocks and maybe F100 brakes up front. Any ideas?

  10. Can´t wait either, aint a day whithout thinking of it. Been a year sins I bought it and it´s just sitting and waiting. That caddy engine and the grill was a must for me . I´m pretty lousy taking pics of my builds but promissed my self to bee better on this one so I hope I can keep you updated.

I'm always impressed with what the guys in Sweden do. No project is too big! I guess the winters are long... Everybody in SoCal wants to drive there projects right away, because so many shows and all year is something to go to.

The rear crossmember has a inner reinforsment box , by taking this out , it lowers the car aboat 5 "'s, if you want more than that, use a 40 rear spring with longer shacles, it will drop another 3"'s if you reverse the eye on the main leaf , it will give another 2"'s, the front use a reverse eye 40 spring with longer schacles, and a 47-48 axle, it drops it almost 4"'s if you want more than that, you can have the axle dropped.

I´m living in southern Sweden so the winter is not wery long, about 4 month´s i think but one reason we are getting in to big projects I believe is that we don´t have the same amount of cars diggin thru as you do when we are looking for a projekt, meaning we have to take what we can get. Even today whith internet buying a car from the other end of the world is a pretty big deal for many of us.The one I got is coming from Mexico imported to Sweden in 2006.
Would like to see some pics of Magoozis 46 here too .

Thanks Flatheadfreak! When ever I tell people that I put a Hemi in my 41 Plymouth they get all excited and think about the 392. After I tell em its 276 53-54 Desoto they give me that look, really? For the same money I dumped into that 276 I could have had a 392 build. But I really like the early look of the 276 and size wise is seems to be just made for my car. I didn't have to cut out or modify the inner fender. Tiny changes to the firewall hump, where the flat six tucked in. Other than that, it is more period correct. I didn't wanna race that sled either. Just an reliable strong cruiser for street and freeway and a piece of art to look at. People who build Hemis told me, with my 10:1 compression mild cam and intake carb setup I should have almost 300hp ( Hemi hp, they are different!???) Plenty I guess anyway. If I would have used a flat six with some cool speedparts the car would have been already done by now. considering saving all that extensive fabrication work. If I have another one I would go that way. Maybe..Building a Mopar is not dropping in Speedway bold on parts... But at the end, the reward is gonna be big.

I know you aint gonna be disapointed about that enginechoice. When I was building my model-A the goal was to put a 348" chevy in it but when I got the calculated price from the shop who´s gonna rebuild it I nearly cracked down and put a smallblock in it instead.
If it wasn´t for my wife whos insisted in the 348" it may have gonne that way, but she talked me over and I just love when I fire that little bigblock up. It was worth all the money.

Ya , I even tried fishing brownie (kevan's doggy) with my top hat, no such luck, by the first fifteen minutes, half the car show was chassing brownie, finaly, sally (kevan's wife) came out of the restroom and brownie walked up to her like nothing had happen.

I don't know the whole story about it, but I'm sure it was done ages ago. I guess I gonna see him this weekend at the Gathering of the Customs in LA and can find out more. I checked my pics, for some reason I didn't take any inside or engine pics.

  28. Congrats to your friend Stefan. Looks like a great score.
Whith a gentle roofshop it will be gorgeus

Great thread idea. Bumping to fan the fire.
I will soon add some shots of a humble project ('49 Fleetline mild custom),
to help keep this thread alive.

thanks Stefan! The car was lowered years ago with longer shackles in the back much like Sledge's 39 carson-topped merc vert. I found the flipper caps through a fellow hamber. Other than swapping some parts out to get it on the road and removing a couple accessories that were on it, it's how i bought it-it is six volt and has mechanical brakes and i want to keep it that way if possible. I want to keep it as an early Kustom with the old paint and all. not sure about messing with the top yet, :)
