Hot Rods TRADITIONAL Hot Rods on BRING A TRAILER

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HEMI32, Jun 18, 2024.

  1. With the The Jalopy Auction House logo.jpg apparently on hiatus (i.e., no active listings since August of 2023), I thought it might be okay to post some of the TRADITIONAL Hot Rods (currently or previously) listed on the BAT logo.jpg site . . . if it’s not okay, the Mods can certainly just delete this thread.

Not knocking your proposal, but, at one time (to me), BAT was really cool, you know, when the cars (usually) actually needed a trailer to transport them.
I liked to scan it now and then just to discover some little gem, not to buy, just browse.
It seems now, everybody uses it, everything from Rolls Royce to RR's.
And when did it become cool to build a coffee table from a Ferarri engine, guessing about the same time "man caves" became popular.
And by the way, what's going on with the HAMB auction house?

I used to follow BaT pretty closely, but over the last couple years it's turned into mostly clean used late model stuff. Most of those are sports cars or higher-end stuff I suppose, but nothing that interests me. I've seen a few really good deals there on some of the early cars though, I don't think the crowd that actually buys stuff off of BaT is into 50's and earlier stuff.

  16. Note that the verbiage under each car photo I posted (e.g.,1929 Ford Roadster), is actually a hyperlink to the Bring-A-Trailer listing . . . which includes the full description of the car, dozens more photos of the car, & a video or two of the car . . . and rest assured the link is valid (i.e., won’t take you to an inappropriate or scam website).

I guess the thing that got my attention is the fact that there are so many traditional cars for sale. Is the mainstream finally growing tired of traditional cars? Is the van craze next? Will a 1977 Chevy short van with original Frank Franzetta mural and porthole window bring $225,000 at Barrett Jackson?

He posted 15 cars that covered a year span. I fail to consider that a lot for a far-reaching auction website. Life circumstances change, people want to try something new, etc.
