I have listed this photo below as 1959-60, but it could have been only 1959 since it was one of the earliest films recorded. I was looking at the original raw footage from the first digital archive file. The one that shows the Lion’s Dragstrip entrance with cars moving into it and us going to the ticket booth was also attached.

Jess Van Deventer set many records and ran at most So Cal dragstrips through out his career. Pick up any copy or issue of an old Drag News weekly paper and one will find a story or results of the white SBC powered roadster winning his class at Lion's Dragstrip or another one of the plentiful So Cal drags locations at the time.

The origin of the roadster comes in many different stories. This roadster was sold in 1963-64 to racers back East. Jess Van Deventer was a city councilman in San Diego.

To us young teens, it seemed like the white roadster was always running at Lion’s Dragstrip during our competitive arena times. But, National City is over an hour + away, at the lower/middle East side of the big bay in San Diego.
