Question for the Jr Stock experts; was Pontiac allowed to use a different automatic transmission such as the B&M Hydro-stick, or were they forced to use the Dual Coupling Hydramatic? The one pictured is in F/Stock Automatic.
I've read that Art Carr was able to make the StratoFlight/Jetaway competitive.

I don’t think there was a transmission made that Art could not make better or competitive. He consentrated on certain ones but could do them all. RIP Art. . . . fellow Elks Lodge member.

“Drag Racing Magazine in 1965 featuring the "Magicar". My goal is to bring it back to it's original shape as it was sponsored by "Astro Wheels" It is the former Winkle & Trapp AA/FD run by Ron Winkle and Kay Trapp, beautifully restored and run by Bill Pitts.”

    Hello,

When I took some films of the original Lion’s Dragstrip Museum Grand Opening back in 2017, I was surprised at how powerful the event’s afternoon “Cacklefest” would be. Normally, most cackle events are done at night, that way the flames look very impressive. But, to do the whole event in the morning and then again in the late afternoon, was pretty awesome.

I was told that the most impressive would be the “Magicar,” the gold colored AA/FD managed by Bill Pitts. When they lined up, the flames were coming out of the fuel burning race cars all lined up in a row. it was a powerful moment. But, in the daylight? At least the setting afternoon sun was starting to allow some contrast.

I had not been this close for quite some time and my ears were not ready for the blast. My nose and eyes were definitely not ready for the aroma in the air. As the aroma floated in the air, 10 feet away, my senses told me to not inhale as fast as even normal. The fumes were piercing and yet, it was an instant flashback to those old days.

Why was the “Magicar” the most impressive? A stronger mix of fuel and the tune made the flames stand out, even in the daylight, fading in the afternoon. YRMV
