    Hello,

From its humble beginnings with several different owners, Bruce Carmen was the third owner and first to use a DeSoto. It was a regular at Vic Hubbard’s Speed Shop along with the Forsberg Brothers and their racing machines.

Note: The chopped Model A Altered Sedan Delivery sold in 1982 and the new owners, Norris Brothers were now caretakers of a little history from Northern California.

The most difficult one I drew was a version of the famous “Bread Truck” from the Vic Hubbard stables. But, afterwards, since I have been in many different hot rods, from a 34 coupe, 32 roadster to the series of 55 -57 Chevy sedans and 1950 Oldsmobile coupe, I actually preferred driving around in the non-chopped sedan. Like the tow car …

The chopped “Bread Truck” despite the lowered top would have been interesting to drive in competition and not have to worry about seeing what is all around the race car if it was a street driven hot rod. Sedan delivery builds are notorious about blocked vision around the rear area of the car/truck/van… YRMV

NOTE: For the Bread Truck and its early history came to a halt in a massive warehouse fire. A piece of Northern California history went up in flames…
