Do not know when this picture was taken but the Ford on the right is still on the road according to the DVLA. Do not know what engine is in it but it is a 200 cu.in one.

  20. As far as I know Tommy's 36 never had a So-Cal Plating style top.
The 36 Phaeton (#404) at the Oakland show was owned by Joe Hocker, brother of Tom Hacker who owned the well known Barris built 40 Ford coupe.

Nice photos of Traditional Images from early hot rod days across the USA..

    Hello,

The hot rod history goes back a zillion years and the same amount of actual hot rod photo are available to find, if that is your thing. But, a current LARS modern hot rod is not a traditional hot rod in that it has technology beyond what was around back in the whole history of hot rods. (PRE 65) Plus, it is not something we all can make unless we have someone or some shop create the hot rod for tons of money most of us do not have.

It is a little disheartening that the new hot rods are built by a shop and a horde of guys. Since a lot of us are beyond the 20s-50s stage of active involvement, there are shops available. So that is one end of the whole scene. Traditional is a term that most of us think are old hot rods in the heydays of early So Cal to New York and all over.

    Jnaki

Those current builds and new photos should be put into the “Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs” section. They do not belong on the “Traditional” thread. AI altered photos are in the same category and should not be place anywhere. There are enough old hot rod photos to sustain this thread and even new builds in the same line of thought. YRMV

    Note:

Originally, it seems like the Vintage thread was for old hot rod photos from every part of the vast history, including the industry, businesses and locations. Then the actual photos of stock cars from all over now joined the posts. But, then as one old train photo got accepted with a hot rod in the post, then more train photos were added and so on.

You can see where that action went and now there are the original old hot rod photos as oddball as some were. There were so many posts that now there is a Vintage part two, that has almost every photo without any facts about whatever still being posted. Also, most are not connected to any hot rods in the photos.

So, if any new 100k hot rod builds are posted, the "off topic" thread is a welcoming thread that is growing fast. Now, anyone will have another thread to post a zillion photos without any facts at will.
