    Hello,

Since December 21 is the first day of winter, one would think So Cal has freezing days along the coast. Yes, the water is super cold with the winter storms/current moving down the coastline and ending up just past the southern border when it heads out towards Hawaii. Part of So Cal inland areas already have snow. So, yes, So Cal gets cold enough to wear hooded sweatshirts and perhaps a warm ski jacket, doing normal errands around this time of the year.

So Cal version of “snowbirds” is not to go North, but to go South of the border where it is usually 70-80 degrees during November to January. The surf/swell may be lingering near San Diego, but farther down the mainland coastline, perhaps just little “ankle biters.” With the national crisis happening, it is not the best place to go to get out of the winter doldrums, these days.

But, back along the So Cal coastline, we are sometimes surprised that open air warmth makes folks dig a little deeper in their garage*****nal and come out to play in the “Warm California Sun…” When we drive up the coast towards Santa Barbara, we do see more cars out to play in the sunny weather between the storms. The garage queens come out to play. Palm trees, blue ocean and warm sun all play into this picture noted on many TV and movies we see.

For the times where we are stuck inside during a storm, some of us turn to art to settle the mind and do some activity.

My version of a 1950 Ford convertible with the top down cruising attitude. Low and slow…

When the day calls for some night time cruising, perhaps, a “California Top” is called for in the colder times… YRMV
