    Someone enlighten me…
Why did all these guys back then wear white clothes to work on greasy cars?
    (Including my old man!)

It's all they had. A couple white T shirts and a pair of jeans that were so old and washed so many times they look white in those old photos. All we needed. :)

Boy this comment brings back memories. In the mid-fifties our family lived in Inglewood, Ca under the flight path of the Los Angeles International Airport (it wasn’t known as LAX to civilians yet). Lockheed Constellations were still flying although it was the beginning of the Jet Age. Those planes all rained fuel, hydraulic oil and who-knows what on the landscape below. Since we didn’t have a dryer my Mom used the backyard clothesline and almost all of our clothes had at least a few little oil spots. Even the kitchen curtains got stained. She would scrub the spots with a bar of Fels Naptha soap and wash with Rinso Blue to keep everything white white. Mom didn’t drive yet but we had two blue Hudson Hornets in the driveway (never did ask Dad why). Saturday mornings I would probably go with Dad to Jiffy Auto Parts and maybe we’d get donuts.
I was the lucky little red headed kid in a clean white T shirt with little yellow spots on the shoulders carrying a box of spark plugs in one hand and eating a glazed donut with the other.

Not oldie either with those headlights. They went into the trash pretty quick.

Probably bought the donuts from me at the Big Donut.

  18. Drive this to a show today and everyone would say it's not traditional, they didn't build them like that.
