    Hello,

What is a more traditional photo scene, than a bunch of teenagers in 1957 piling into a lowered rake old sedan with Moon Discs? It was a weekly occurrence to go cruising on a Friday afternoon leading into the nighttime activities in So Cal, being centered on Bixby Knolls. 1957 Westside of Long Beach was a common scene during these early teenage days.

My brother had his advantages over me being a couple of years older. He was the first in our family to get to do fun things. I knew that in a few years, I would get my time in the same scenes all over So Cal. An envious moment was the present 1957 scene, but within a few years, I would do my own thing, possibly with the same car, if everything goes as planned. Give the kid the old and get a new car was my brother’s motto, after talking to our parents. Ha!

I ended up with this 58 Impala, Enjoyed the whole drag racing/cruising scene. and when it came time to adjust to the things we wanted to do, purchased my own 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery for the surf scene.

The 58 Impala was technically our first surf transportation, but that did not last very long. Then later, for my/our surf adventures, an old Flathead powered Ford Sedan Delivery took over and we fit better into that community and lifestyle.

But, it was the 1951 Oldsmobile two door post sedan that started it all for my brother and his little brother, "go-fer."

  16. I Love this photo of the { girlfriend or wife } driving the Hot Rod without the doors. I did this a lot with my Hot Rods too. 121.jpg 143.jpg My daughter reminds me of taking her to school, with no floor pan in the rear of the delivery. Yeah, a bad dad.:(
