    Hello,

This old photo reminds me of an old TV show that was called, “In Living Color.” In the 90’s the show introduced the dancing Fly Girls, (Jennifer Lopez) which the choreography is now so prevalent in dance backgrounds, for videos and awards shows.

But, the idea of “living color” reminded me of this photo: It was live and in person!!!

The actual photo location is just outside of the actual Lion's Dragstrip pits, near the tech committee inspection areas. The coupe was a part of a pit crew, as we did not see it race in any class or in the class lanes. But, the location, the set up and early So Cal hot rod, was just asking for recognition.

Back in 1958-59 season, I took this film clip of a cool looking 1934 Ford coupe in the pits of Lion’s Dragstrip. It was one of only a few coupes that had motorcycle front fenders and a short cut down rear fender enclosing the big whitewall tires. Thanks for the memories… it was a time to just shoot some film and a week later, see the results.

One of the shortest film clips in the arsenal. A clip from the Lion's Dragstrip collection, part of the film shown at the original, Lion's Dragstrip Museum Grand Opening in 2017.
