I don’t remember ever seeing the Outlaw with a top before. I saw it at a couple rod and custom shows, in magazines and built the model, never knew it had a top.

    Hello,

As “locals” from the Bixby Knolls area, we learned to know where we could go to get some great car service, repairs and machine work done on our teenage hot rods/sedans. Everything from a chrome accessory shop, a famous porting service, another machine shop with race car background, tire shops, welding shops and a transmission shop all located in a one block part of the famous Cherry Avenue.

It is the same Cherry Avenue that is several block South near the cemeteries, that acted as the “go to” place for acceleration runs and races. The history of Cherry Avenue and the Bixby Knolls area goes through many generations of teenage hot rod/drag race folks and friends.

Stu’s Transmission Service was a centerpiece of the whole row of hot rod shops, custom accessories shops, and all of those automotive repair shops for everyone, including a ton of teenage hot rod cruisers/racers. Most everyone that had a problem with any kind of transmission went to Stu’s A&E Transmission shop.

We saw the little rear engine SBC powered dragster in the shop and one day, we filmed it at Lion’s Dragstrip in 1960.

America at its finest. A load of baled hay. A chemical plant or perhaps other type processing facility
in the background. Also another trailer load of some type commodity parked waiting.
A few empty flatbed trailers and a hot rod. Industry, agriculture, and ingenuity on full display.
    I really like that shot.

probably pushing back on the return road, it is typical to cover the intake to keep the hot sticky slicks from picking up a rock , throwing it up and it ending up in the intake,,,
