    It may have been a movie they showed in multiple places, but that set with those cars was on the Ed Sullivan Show. Just watched it last week on ME TV
     
  11. Here’s the real kicker, the car on the left does in fact exist. After 30+ years of looking the original owners son found it in a state of disrepair, bought it back ( family heirloom you understand) and restored it to the configuration you see in the clip.

    Wendell Scott....even if he never won a NASCAR race, he was the bravest man at the track. Not only was he under threat of death if he even came close to stepping over the line - and that could be as simple as having someone say he looked at a white woman in the stands to a complicated a him actually gaining entry to the track itself - but he had regular group of other "independent" drivers who would regularly spin him out or wreck him if he got ahead of them. Then he had to deal with not being able to buy gas on the way to and from tracks, getting stopped by cops just on "general principles", not being able to stay at a hotel, not being able to eat at a restaurant or even buy from one and not eat there....and yet, being an American and a veteran, he still kept on going.
