If the car was nearly new when the picture of the rears was taken, I'm betting those rears, if they ae even still around, don't look anything like that now.

The guy inside is taking pictures with a phone which makes it a relatively modern event. Surprises me, as I was thinking that scatter shields were used pretty much universally for high power cars in modern times. The unsprung disc makes me think it's likely to be a competition car.

Personally, I place a lot of value on my feet and legs.

Surf transportation of the early days shows no woody wagons in the lot and most were station wagons, sedans or trucks.
upload_2023-2-18_3-2-26.jpeg and this funky one of a kind flathead powered 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery. If one looks quickly at the photo, the orange-red image in the parking lot pops up easily. No, it is not my sedan delivery, but it could have been, as we were usually there with our friends from Long Beach/Seal Beach.

    Hello,

Every time we go on a short drive to the Dana Point Harbor, my wife and I always stop at the top of the northern cove area cliffside to get a clear view of the ocean, harbor and lost surf spots from the old teenage days. I have had this old photo for a million years and it always reminds me of those times when we drove to the small parking lot and walked out on the small short pier to check out the Killer Dana surf spot on the tall cliff point.

Then, we would look South and see small peaks breaking in various reefs that dotted this rocky shoreline. These peaks were not seen by the general public as the major roadway North and South does not see the ocean waves at this part of Dana Point. It is still that way, today. Millions of people drive on PCH going North or South and do not see the ocean waves during this drive through this city.

When we were teenagers, the short pier gave us a commanding view of the Killer Dana Point surf and the clear views down the rocky coastline Southward. Now, we had to decide if the walk on the rocky shoreline was worth the effort of riding those peak break waves by ourselves or go to the Killer Dana surf spot. The folks at the Southern Doheny Beach parking area could see the Killer Dana point, but it was hard to see the waves.

They also could not see these hidden surf breaks due to the jutting out of a tall cliff along the shoreline. When the marina was in its build stage, that cliff side barrier was taken down. Today, if one were to stand at the Cove parking area or view point, you can see in a Southerly direction, all the way back to Doheny State Beach and its surfing spots.

So, why is that photo of Killer Dana so much fun to see at any time? Well, for one, surfers did go there due to easy access to the parking lot down the narrow roadway. But, one had to remember the paddle out was a long, tiring paddle when the waves were consistent. Walking out to the point to try and break through the waves was a shorter paddle out, but is the fighting those consistent walls of water and getting swept back toward the shoreline worth the energy and effort? Usually, not, so we made the long paddle from the pier area to the point break peaks.

One enjoyable thing of this spot was that if you caught a good wave with long lines and power, one could surf the waves doing many moves, all the way past the short pier and wave to your friends yelling/screaming at you on the wave. Ha… that was something.

Wow, I didn't think a can would come apart like that. I saw one puffed up like a balloon, but the only place pieces leaked out was at the clutch arm hole and out the bottom front.
This one did it's job at least, his feet were saved.

  19. Is the "Quick Time" just a bellhousing, or is it supposed to be blow shield too. Either way, this doesn't look good for them.
