Looking at that picture I thought that looks like it could be the first iteration of Tempted Once built by Larry Farris. It was the blue paint, wheels and tires that struck me but then I saw the hairpin radius rod, Farris used a split wishbone.

I had that car in my shop for quite a while, reproducing the chassis. It’s nearly done. Nov 55 Hot Rod feature car, 23 Fiat. Wayne Miller photo.

Jim Davis was from Virginia and raced this B/G coupe with a SBC/B&M hydro. Decades later he was named Vice President at B&M.

  18. The story I got from one of the guys that was there is that one day Bob and other cronies were on the front porch of his Muncie, KS (today part of Kansas City, KS) home drinking beer and considering his wife's brand-spanking new '64 Barracuda in the driveway. Someone wondered aloud if the engine out of his Top Fueler would fit in it. These shots have to be not long after that thought emerged. I've never seen them. Nice find.

And while I'm here, how about Bob in the mid-'50s having fun.

And I never saw it verified but it was rumored Bob drove the car into the drag strip property which resulted in track officials scratching their heads. They didn’t know how to classify a street car with a fuel engine in it.

  21. To hell with the cars, I want the Suburban. Did you know that in the early 1950's, Plymouth station wagons were called Suburbans by the Chrysler factory.
