Unfortunately for me, and I'm sure a lot others, this photo reminds me Pat Ganahl's demise. No, it's not the same place. I along with so many others, remember the tragedy about this time last year.

  17. Okay that’s one count of speeding, one count of failure to yield. One count of failure to signal, two counts of reckless endangerment and three counts of being a jackass. Have a nice day.

There are reasons tracks like this one are fast becoming just another thing that was in our past.

For some, life was much more simple back then. Danger was part of life, but often times there was hard consequences attached to the freedom of that simple life. The line between choosing safety and choosing the freedom of known dangers has been shifting for a very long time. Being able to make that choice on a personal level is disappearing as fast as those simple times are. The questions we have about where the line between personal choice and safety for all should be, are getting harder to answer. Food for thought.

So happy most of those auto parts stores have parking lots now. We no longer need to fix our stuff on the street...

While Neal got the all the ink and the car became known as the Neal East Roadster it was bought as a hot rod and modified even more by a young Bill Woodard. Later Woodard repainted it gold and had the undercarriage chromed and sometime after that East bought it.
To me it will always be the Bill Woodard Roadster, just like Chili Catallo’s Silver Sapphire will never be The Beach Boys Little Deuce Coupe.

First place I trophied at. There is/was a dog leg to the right in the shut off area. They had some of the best Funny Car meets. Kosty Ivanoff was on the loudspeaker giving a description of how he and his family drove through a fence dividing East and West Germany. I think I remember him saying they filled the doors and sides of a car with concrete, so that if they were shot at, the concrete would protect them.
