Took this picture of the Big T at a collection in Winnamuca Nevada a few years ago. Must be a clone.

Thats about as late fifties as a t-bucket can get. Like the chopped deuce grill shell, thats what I call commitment to making it period. Cool car.

Just noticed this. That was actually Ivo's car after it had been sold. Trying to remember the guys name, Bill something, he swapped the injectors for 6x2's, made a couple other changes to the car. I have that movie on DVD. Great car stuff, HORRENDOUS movie. I have a Car Craft article on the car at the time it was used in the movie.

If i wanted to run a stick in mine i'd have to put the clutch pedal outside the car! I can't even put my foot between the steering column & the body.lol

I can raise my hand on this one. All the old timers had clutches.

Mine was built with a PG and had a TH350 when I got it.

Now it's a T-5 because of the 4.11's. It needs the OD for highway cruising.

I put the clutch pedal to pivot on the brake pedal shaft and ran a hydraulic master about a foot behind the brake master.
Not much foot room, but it's OK and doable. The pedal travel takes the pedal right to the firewall.

Bill Rolland was the buyer of the Ivo car. Always been a toss up for me if I liked Tommy's original version of the car, or Bill's cobalt blue, Halibranded second version better. Being a mag wheel -o-phile, I think it might be the latter... 'Course, 'bout '64 or so Hy Rossen got it and handed it over to Barris..... YYYYEEECCHHH!!!!

thanks, it was on the tip of my tongue. At the time of the movie & Car Craft article, it had been re-painted, but still had the steel wheels on it, with no caps. IIRC, it appeared in Hot Rod with the Halis. Barris sure messed up a lot of cool cars, didnt he?:D

From that angle, they look like models or toys in a diorama.

Nothing Barris did compared to what happened to Norm's Kookie Kar. But maybe we shouldn't get into that. Need Louvers and I have shut down other good threads with talk like that.

Kinda weird, I drug all my 1960s Hot Rods out of the archives to thumb through this week and the Rosen version of the car is featured in one of them. The article doesn't mention Ivo or Barris and if you didn't know better, you would have thought it was a new build.

I was thinking the same as some of these other guys . . . I am 6'0" and 230 and fit much better into a Model A. If you strip it down to the basics you can get the same feel (or better) for not much more $. Plus you are not smooshed so you can use all three pedals.

Iskendarian's T, Grabowski's Lightning Bug and Don Kugler's T are a few of my favorites

I took this footage a few years ago of a car built with influence of Ed's car

and here's another well worn shot of my car, influenced by several cars built in the mid to late 50s, Kugler, etc

I always liked the Lightning Bug too. The Kookie version, well, not so much. That T of yours looks pretty damn good too.

I'm a little slow, I just figured out where Lahar Washington is.:D

  25. While pics are nice, there's nothing like getting up close and personal. I agree that Norm's Kookie Kar started the 60s and 70s explosion of T-Bucket interest and Von Franco's Kookie Klone on display at Sacramento Vintage Ford is as close as you'll get, so I shot a quick iPhone video.

(Next time, I'll wise up and shoot horizontal instead of vertical -- doh!)

You know as far as I am concerned the Von Franco Klone is the best one I've seen. Not over done as most, not changed to be more safe, Not perfect but the original wasn't perfect either.

Damn, I've said it about a couple of other cars on this thread too, but this one is another of my favorites! I remember when it was featured in Rodder's Digest about twenty years ago. Funny thing though, it was in black and white in the feature, and it wasn't until I got to the H.A.M.B. about 4 years ago that I saw a color picture of it... For some reason, I always thought it was orange!

I emailed this link to Dennis. He emailed me back that his roadster was sold to a guy in Napa Ca. that owned a plating co. Does this ring any bells to anyone. It would be fun to track down this roadster.

    Thanks Gary
