I love it and you could call it a garbage truck if I owned it,I wouldn't care. That car is beautiful,Period. HRP
It is ''Taditional'' but in the later Resto Rod ''Period'' and not a lot would need to be done (by what we can see) to make it Hamb Period. JW
Beautiful '32 3 window coupe. The owner built it to his liking in a traditional style. I think the majority of people would love to own this highly desirable Hot Rod. The bra & rad shell screen show that it is a driver and really, isn't that what it's all about??
I thought the question was "is it traditional?", not "is it a piece of crap?" Just because somebody says it's not traditional doesn't mean they don't appreciate it's beauty and how nice of a car it is. I don't get the hostility and the need to call people "the hot rod police". OP asked a question, people give their answer (opinion), nobody said anything bad about it.
Take off the bra, close the hood and put on steel wheels and the traditional guys would be cooing all over it. Nice car as is and drive the wheels off it.
This car is absolutely stunning. The builder doesn't appear to be a first timer, and I bet he could care less what we label his car. He is obviously trying to preserve some of the many hours of sweat and love he has put into it. Nice job.
I'm with Dean 100% on this. Some like to classify my cpe as a street rod. Do I really care? Hell no generally speaking those who are doing the putting down have a car that's driven a few miles at a time, a zip code car. Of course they may refer to it as their daily but they don't trust it for a trip. More than once the cpes been driven a 1000 mi or more in a day without an escort
Your car is a proven driver and it has the mileage to prove it but you don't have anything to prove to anyone,it's a hot rod pure & simple. My old Deuce has been called a street rod, a rat rod and a traditional car and to be honest I could care less,I tend to think of it as more of a driver/beater. Most of the cars & trucks on the hamb are far from being "Traditional" that's why Ryan gave us mortals this heading (HOKEY ASS MESSAGE BOARD) to ponder what is what and leave the Traditional Rods & traditional customs to the purist! Labels are for clothing! HRP
It's traditionally inspired... and gorgeous... and would look so much better with proper bias tires in my opinion. All that said, I find these threads about defining things boring as all hell. If you don't know what a traditional car is, why post?
This is Deuce Roadsters car,he built it the way he wanted and he said it was a real deal 1932 Henry Ford ,never said traditional or street rod,he called it a hot rod. HRP
Maybe the guy just got there and hadn't had time to take off the bra? I think it's a good idea to protect the paint, doesn't look like a Rustoleom paint job to me, so maybe he has a few bucks in the paint? I've got a label for it.......Beautiful!!!! I'd drive it until the wheels fell off, then pick them up, put them back on, and drive it more!
A couple of years ago I was attending a car show, and after the judging and the awarding of the trophies I saw an older couple packing up to head home, they got out a package of Saran Wrap and covered the fenders with it before driving off. Never saw that before, or since.
Proper bias tires are the problem.....I'm still waiting for some A+ rated ones to hit the market. Until then it's, not the look I really like, F'ing radials. Oh, and that is one nice hot rod.
I think we get caught up in the too fine details all too often. That is one hell of a nice car that does a great job of paying tribute to the nice hot rods from the eatly/mid 60's or the way we would have wanted to build one if we had the money.. Yuppers the fan riser is not quite old time but it works to cool the engine so you don't have worries on long road trips. Didn't notice the low profile radials at first look but the wheels resembled some of the "Mags that were floating around in the early 60's although being a lot nicer than those were. That damned bra though, Owner probably didn't take it off because it leaves a tan line. I know one thing, If I had it I would be finding some long away events to go to just to be driving it.
Looks like a very well built car, set up for the long haul. Long term, I'd change some things. Present term, I drive the wheels off it. I know from experience, bra's can come off going down the road....
Is this the same car???? This looks pretty Traditional..... I believe that this build was a tribute to the Banker Bros Deuces of 1961 which was a Pasadena Ca. Fixture for years and went in Hot Rod as a feature car, so I'd amuse that a build of an original should garner traditional status. Banker Bros in 1961 And Banker Bros 32 3W in 2012 as a 75th Anniversary Deuce owned by Gary Lorenzini And Present Hot Rods change over the course of time, This car could once have beeen labeled high tech due to its association with a builder who placed his trade marked features on it, It was still a Hot Rod, most of the talent that moved metal on this car set the bar for many great builds. Just the fact that this Hot Rod has a history that is pretty extensive places it in a tradition of keeping the flame (even though the Rickleff licks are removed ).
I miss Randy. He was a good dude. What happened to this car? I know it caught fire but I'm not sure Randy finished fixing it before he passed. I will try to think to ask Buster when I see him next.
