i could be wrong,i don't have a set of "10" heads, but i've had a good look at a couple sets and they look the same to me.of course there wasn't a set of "7" or "8" heads nearby to compare with.most aftermarket intakes show the same part # for '54-'56. however my '58 factory parts manual shows identical part #'s for the exhaust manifold from '54-'56,but the intake part # is different for '56 from the '54-'55.i think i might have a '56 4bbl. manifold in the backyard,i'll check it out tomorrow when it isn't raining-george
well i was going to say something, but the way ive been batting i figured id better keep my mouth shut. i can say what the liature says.it does mention an increase in port size.i belive the openings are the same from 54-56.i always thought they where refering to the actual port size.not opening. i have a set of 8's i can look at to.the real advantage of the 10 head is the combustion size.it has all the good features allready built in.without machining.the nice thing about the others is there easy to find, and if you already have them, and cant find a set of 10,s you can do like yorg did,and have a nice set of heads.you can shave them down for compression, enlarge the valves do some port work yadda yadda.just dont forget to take some off the intake side of the head, and port match. eric
OK somebody needs to measure this stuff so we can know for sure.i forgot about the heads haing different size combustion chambers too.i do know that .040" off a set of "8" heads will give you a 72cc chamber.in retrospect i should have zeroed the deck on my block too.
No kiddin, my buddy boght a 57 98 all original, 30,000 miles. body had half an inch of moss on it, engine started with some help, no knocks a tiny puff of smoke and purred like a horny cat. tranny was cooked though.
